A large portion of the preceding Unclassified Records may relate to the Isles of Shoals branch. All the following families seem to belong to tha: branch.

100 JEFFREY2 CURRIER, b. ab. 1635 (pp. 124, 703), was appar- ently the ancestor of the Isles of Shoals family. He may possibly have been a son of (1) RICHARD1, but no proof has been found .* The earliest mention of him yet found is dated Mch. 1665-6, when Jeff: Curryert was a subscriber to Mr. Moody's salary in Portsmouth. Feb. 15, 1668-9, one acre of land on Great Island, Portsmouth (now New Castle), # was granted to him[]. B.C.]. Mch. 18, 1669, "Jefferey Curriehaire of Portsmouth in Piscat- aqua River, Fisherman," bought of Edward Holland a dwelling house on Hog Island, on the Isles of Shoals.§ From abour 1670 to 1699, or later, he seems to have been a fisherman of the

* In this respect, the Haverhill and the Isles of Shoals branches are alike uncertain. The nam' Jeffrey is peculiar, and does not occur in any family on the early vital records of either Amesbar. or Haverhill. The name Richard, however, is very common among the Curriers of Haverh.": and the Isles of Shoals, as well as of Amesbury. As Jeffrey was of about the same age as Thona. and Samuel?, we venture to call him of the second generation.

When Thomas Macy left Amesbury, Richard Currier became town clerk, and fixed the spe !!!!: of the name there; but more variation is found in this branch.

$ Hist. Rye gives "Jefferson" [Jeffrey?] Currier in the "List of the Ancient Names in New Castle and Sandy Beach," made July, 1696.

§ It was described as "adjoyning to a certain Bridge there, formerly known by the name of Cap .. Miles Pile's Brewhouse, late in the Tenure or Occupation of Mark Rowe, Fisherman, & now :3 the Tenure or Occupation of him, the sd Jeforie Curriehaire or of his Assigas." This bull

Istes of Shoals. His name occurs in connection with the inven- tory of an estate in 1676-7. The will of John Cutt of Ports- mouth, 1680, ment. land at "boyling rock," bought of Jeffery Currier[N H Probate]. He was an appraiser of the est. of Wm. Robbins, Sept., 1680. He was presented to the court July 15, 1690, for "speaking mutinous words in public"[Yk Deeds Bk V].

The fishermen of the Isles of Shoals left no wills, as the other branches did, and the town records are deficient. It is therefore impossible to give a full genealogy. The following is merely a meagre outline of probable relation- ship. Some names, doubtless, do not appear at all. (100) JEFFREY2 may have had other children besides (101) RICHARD3, (143) JOHN3, and prob. (738) CALEB3. The numbers used on former pages are retained.

The Currier family continued to be well represented at the Isles of Shoals down to the middle of the 18th century. The names Diamond and Weymouth do not appear on the records of the Gosport church, but there were three Richards in 1754 and two Geoffreys [or Jeffreys] in 1756, all adults.

101 RICHARD3 CURRIER (Jeffrey2, -? ), of the Isles of Shoals, "fisherman," b. ab. 1669; m. ab. 1690, Elizabeth Way- mouth; d. ab. 1708. Wid. m. Nathaniel Lord. Two children known. Pp. 124, 703-4.

143 JOHN3 CURRIER (Jeffrey, -? ), of the Isles of Shoals, b. ab. 1673; m. Anne --; d. ab. 1709. P. 704. He is probably the John Currier who was a witness to the will of Eleanor Wil- comb, Isles of Shoals, 1699[Concord].

102 DIAMOND* CURRIER (Richard3, Jeffrey2, --? ), of the , Isles of Shoals, b. ab. 1690-4; m. -; d. ab. 1731. Pp. 124, 704.

103 WEYMOUTH4 CURRIER (Richard3, Jeffrey2, -? ), of Isles of Shoals, b. ab. 1690-4; living in 1725. P. 124.

735 RICHARD5 CURRIER (Diamond", Richard3, Jeffrey2, -? ), of Isles of Shoals, b. after 1710; living in 1725 .* [See Richard "tertius," next after No. 786, and Note.]

"Jeofforie Currer" assigned to another party, without date. The "house and garden" were as- signed from one party to another, nearly all "fishermen," in 1683, 1684, 1687, and 1718; all recorded together in 1724[York Deeds Bk. XI].

* The will of Nathaniel Lord, of Gosport, Isles of Shoals, Mch. 3, 1725, Mch. 31, 1726, mentions his wife Elizabeth; his bros., Robert, John, Joseph, and James Lord; his wife's two sons, Diamond Currier and ¡Weymouth Currier; RICHARD CURRIER, son of Diamond: Nathaniel Lord, son of James, of Ips., and land in Ips.
