ANNUAL REPORT
REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
To the School Committee of Berkley.
It is a pleasure to present another report as your Superin- tendent of Schools.
The outstanding feature this year, as last year, is the large and changing enrollment of the school at Berkley Common. At all times there are pupils enough to require. special adjustments of classes to the rooms, and at some times the number of children involved is so large as to make this a real difficulty. The situation is one of frequent change. Just now matters are relatively comfortable. Should the larger numbers now occasional become per- manent the town would face a real problem.
This year your committee has improved the building at the Common. Water from the well is piped into the build- ing and a small tank and electric pump gives running water and a drinking fountain.
The changes in the teaching force this year were three in number; two in room teachers at the Common and one in Music Supervisor. The town is fortunate to have secured Miss Hood and Miss Mache as teachers who are well able to carry along the work of the School according to established standards.
Mrs. Glynn left us after Christmas to take a full time position. The music instruction has been taken over by Mrs. Snow who had enough spare time from similar work in other towns to care for our needs in this respect.
While Miss Blood has not been able to act as Principal at the Common this year, the results of her previous work remain with us and her duties are being splendidly carried on by Mrs. Unsworth.

ANNUAL REPORT
With new busses last September, transportation seems to have become satisfactory to pupils, parents and the School Department.
Nothing of greater importance has happened in Berkley for some time than the formation this year of two Parent- Teachers Associations connected respectively with the Schools at the Common and at Myricks. Both organiza- tions are alive, active and very helpful, and from them much of value will come.
The Schools received this year several very acceptable gifts. At the Common we received an organ from a friend in Taunton also two victrolas and records, one from Mrs. Robert S. Howland and the other from Mrs. Charles Zucchi.
At Myricks the Parent Teachers Association provided the school with a radio, some essential playground equip- ment and a first aid cabinet, besides sponsoring milk for underweight children.
I wish to draw attention to the reports of the School Physician and school dentist. The results in each case are unusually fine and a source of great satisfaction to all con- cerned.
I am pleased to be able to again close my report with an expression of appreciation for the pleasant relations that have existed between me and the town. For this I am sincerely grateful.
Respectfully submitted,
EDWARD L. HILL,
Supt. of Schools.
