ANNUAL REPORT

REPORT OF THE CHIEF OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Town has been fortunate again this past year in the small amount of damage caused by fires, not only in regard to forest fires, but also in regard to buildings.

The Department has received in the past year approxi- mately 30 calls, 5 of which were for buildings of low value, the remainder for grass and woods fire. The prompt action of the Department in answering calls resulted in the saving of valuable acres of woodland.

It is necessary gradually to build up our Department, and in the past year we have added a new pump on our tank truck which has increased its efficiency considerably, also 200 feet of hose. More hose is badly needed and other equipment which we intend to purchase this year. We recommend an appropriation of $1,500.00 for the coming year.

I wish to express my appreciation for the co-operation of Mr. Burt, State Deputy Forest Warden, and our own Deputies and all others who have co-operated in carrying out the duties of this office.

ALBERT BINDON Chief

ANNUAL REPORT

We have assisted Mr. Tinkham of the Registry on Peri- odic Inspection checkups. We patroled the town on July 3rd and 4th, and Halloween. During Dog Racing period, Police Officers directed traffic at various intersections for a period of 100 days.

We are increasing our equipment year by year, so that we can give the Citizens of the Town, greater protection. This year, through the Berkley Police Association, we have obtained road flares, electric lanterns, and a first-aid Kit.

I have taken great pleasure in serving you as Chief of Police and I hope that I have been worthy of my appointment. I wish to thank you and the Police Officers for your excellent co-operation in carrying out the work of the department.

Respectfully submitted, HAROLD G. ASHLEY Chief of Police
