The Committee appointed to audit the accounts of the various town offi- cers have attended to that duty, and offer the following report : -

The usual visit was made to the Almshouse, which was found in excellent condition. Annexed may be found the appraisal of the property.

The accounts of the Selectmen were found correct, with proper vouchers, and the Committee return their acknowledgment to them for the aid ren- dered.

The accounts of the Treasurer were properly vouched for and correctly kept. The debt of the town would have been considerably reduced this year, had we not increased expenses on account of school-houses.

The Committee understand there are some debts against the School Dis-

tricts which the town will have to assume; and they have already paid ($2,076,21%) two thousand and seventy six dollars and twenty-one eents.

In the report of last year, seven hundred and thirteen dollars ($713.00) was charged to D. H. Bates, which should have been seven dollars and thirteen centa ($7.13 100); which has been paid into the treasury. We have left off some debts due for use of Town Hall which appear to your Committee to be worthless.

It will be seen that there is a small balance due the Town Treasurer.

The auditors invited the School Committee to publish their report with ours, in accordance with a vote of the town ; which they deeline to do.

We have also given the appraisal of property belonging to " Surveyors of Highways," and School-District property, as appraised by a committee ap- pointed for that purpose.

We have endeavored to arrange the various accounts in such manner as to be understood.
