TOWN LANDS.

BRAINTREE, Feb. 2, 1876.

The Committee appointed by the Town to expend the sum appropriated for improving the public lands, respectfully report as follows :-

The work done during the past year has been in pursuance of a plan orig- inally adopted for reclaiming and beautifying all the land connected with the Town House and Library Building.

328 38

31

In accordance with this plan, we have completed the grading around the Soldiers' Monument, and thoroughly cleared, ploughed, and laid smoothly to grass, the lot belonging to the Library Building, together with the small semi-circular piece in front of the Town House.

A small annual appropriation for this purpose, judiciously expended, will, in a few years, accomplish all that is required to make our Common a spot to which the citizens of the Town can always look with satisfaction and pride.

Accompanying this report is a list of payments made, and vouchers for the same.

ASA FRENCH,

RODOLPHUS PORTER,

THOMAS B. STODDARD, JOCHENIAS PENNIMAN, ROBERT D. HOBART,
