Voted to adopt the Annual Report for 1908 except the re- port of the Electric Light Department.


Voted that all departments of the Town are hereby in-

structed not to exceed their appropriations and that no money be expended by any department for any other purpose than that for which it has been especially appropriated by the Town at the Annual Meeting.


Voted that a committee of three be appointed to confer with the officials of the N. Y., N. H. & H. R. R. Company with a view to obtaining better train service between Braintree and Boston, in the evening. Frank P. Rhoades, Charles B. Cum- mings and Frank O. Wellington appointed.


Voted to appropriate in the aggregate the sum of $158,754.61; and that $120,461.61 of that amount be raised by taxation.


Voted that this meeting now adjourn sine die.

WARRANT FOR STATE ELECTION.


Commonwealth of Massachusetts.


Norfolk, ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Braintree. Greeting :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in elections therein, to meet at the Polling Places in their respective Precincts, to wit :


Polling Place in Precinct No. 1, Town Hall.


Polling Place in Precinct No. 2, Hose House, Hollis Avenue. Polling Place in Precinct No. 3, Hose House, Allen Street.


On Tuesday, the second day of November, 1909, at five forty-five o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to bring in to the Wardens of their respective Precincts their votes on the official ballot for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Attorney General, Councillor, Senator, Rep- ersentative in the General Court, County Commissioner, County Treasurer.


The polls will be kept open until 1 o'clock in the afternoon.


You are directed to serve this warrant by posting true and attested copies thereof in not less than three public places in each Precinct in said Town seven days at least before the said second

day of November, 1909, and by publishing the same once in the Braintree Observer-Reporter and Braintree Bee.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the Selectmen before the time of said election.

In accordance with the foregoing warrant the voters assembled in their respective Precincts to cast their ballots for State and County Officers as specified in the warrant.


All of the Election Officers of Precinct One and the War- dens of Precincts Two and Three were sworn by the Town Clerk, the other Election Officers were sworn by their respective Wardens.


The Official Ballots were delivered to each of the Wardens by the Town Clerk and their receipt taken therefor.


The polls were opened in each Precinct at five forty-five o'clock A. M. and closed :

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.


Commonwealth of Massachusetts.


Norfolk, ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Braintree. Greeting :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Braintree, qualified to vote in town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall, in said Braintree, on Monday, the eighth day of November 1909, at five forty-five o'clock in the forenoon to act on the following articles, namely :


Article 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.


Art. 2. To elect on one ballot, one Selectman, one Assessor, one Overseer of the Poor and one Highway Surveyor, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of R. Allen Gage.


Art. 3. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of money for the payment of interest on the new Schoolhouse loan.


Art. 4. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of money for the Abatement of Taxes.

Art. 5. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate a sum of money for Miscellaneous expenses.


You are to give notice of this meeting by posting true and attested copies of this warrant in not less than nine public places in this town seven days at least before the time of said meeting and by publishing the same once in the Braintree Observer- Reporter and Braintree Bee.


Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk before the time of said meeting.

Article 1. By ballot with the use of the check list Henry A. Monk was chosen Moderator.


Art. 2. The polls were opened at 5.45 o'clock A. M. The election officers present in addition to the Moderator, were Daniel F. Ahern, Clerk, Geo. A. Arnold, D. J. Gallivan, Benjamin Hawes, S. F. Pratt, Joseph S. Drinkwater, Francis T. Lyons, John W. Cuff, William Ryan, all of whom were sworn.

Voted on motion of Col. A. C. Drinkwater, that the polls be kept open until 1 o'clock P. M. and then closed, vote passed at 8.30 o'clock A. M. At 10.30 o'clock A. M., Mr. James W.
