Article 15. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the elimination of Rats and Mosquitoes in the area near the Town Dump, or take any action relative thereto .- No action.

Article 16. To see if the Town will vote to amend that part of its existing By-Laws relating to Zoning by adding to Paragraph 3 of Sec- tion IX, thereof the following: In addition to the appeals provided for by law, appeals may be taken to the board of appeals by any officer or board of the Town, or by any person aggrieved by any order or de- cision of the Inspector of Buildings or other administrative official in violation of the zoning statutes or of this by-law. An appeal to the board of appeals shall be taken within ten days after the date of the order or decision appealed from, by filing a notice of appeal specifying the ground thereof with the Town Clerk, who shall forthwith transmit copies of the notice of appeal to the officer or board from whose order or decision the appeal is taken and to the members of the board of ap- peals .- So Voted. Article 17. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for the maintenance and operation of the Water Department, the same to be taken from the revenue of the Department, and the unexpended balance of 1946, or take any action relative thereto .- No action necessary.

Article 23. To see if the Town will take action under Section 7 Chapter 17 of the Acts of 1930, and the provisions of Chapter 83, Gen- eral Laws, respecting the method by which the remaining portion of the estimated cost of the Town's system or systems of sewerage and sewage disposal shall be provided for, or take any action relative thereto.

Voted: That the Town Counsel be directed to take such action as may be necessary to secure the passage of legislation by the General Court which will enable the Town at a subsequent Town Meeting to decide whether it will make a different determination than that voted at the Special Town Meeting of November 27, 1933, of the proportion of the estimated cost of its system or systems of sewerage and sewage disposal that the Town shall pay and whether it will change the method by which the remaining portion of said estimated cost shall be pro- vided for.
Article 24. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from the income of the Electric Light Department, the sum of Three Hun- dred dollars ($300.00) for the salaries of the Electric Light Com- missioners .- No action necessary.
Article 25. To see if the Town will vote to include in the tax levy for electricity used for street lighting, the sum of Ninety-Eight Hundred dollars ($9800.00) as appropriated under Article 7, of the warrant of the year 1947 annual Town Meeting, and that said sum together with the income from sales of electricity to private con- sumers or for current supplied to Municipal buildings or for Municipal power, and from the sales of appliances and jobbing during the cur- rent fiscal year be appropriated for the use of the Municipal Light Plant the whole to be expended under the direction and control of the Municipal Light Board for repairs, renewals, new construction and operating expenses of the Plant for the fiscal year, as defined in Section 57, Chapter 164, General Laws, and that if said income shall exceed the expense for the fiscal year such amount of excess as is deemed necessary by the Municipal Light Board shall be trans- ferred to the construction fund of said plant and appropriated and shall be used for such additions to the plant as may thereafter be authorized by the Municipal Light Board and any remaining amount paid into the surplus of the Town Treasury .- So Voted.
Article 26. To see if the Town will vote to transfer a portion of the land as shown on Town Plan asPlots 1 and 2, Plan No. 2018, on the corner of Union Street and Cleveland Avenue, now under the control of the Sewer Department, to the use of the Electric Light Department .- So Voted.
Article 27. To see if the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate a sum or sums of money for the purpose of constructing, furnishing, and equipping an addition to the High School for the making of additions, alterations and repairs to the present building and for the construction of an annex to said school at the present location thereof, or for any one or more of the above purposes, and to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to bor- row all, or any part of said sums, in accordance with the provisions of any general or special acts authorizing the Town to borrow for said purpose, or take any other action relative thereto .- No action.

Article 35. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept as and for a Town Way, Cavanagh Road, so-called; as laid out by the Selectmen and to appropriate a sum of money for the im- provement of the same, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That Cavanagh Road, so-called, as laid out by the Select- men be accepted as and for a town way, that the sum of $1,425.00 be raised and appropriated for the improvement of the same and that betterments be assessed to the extent of 66 2/3% of the cost of said improvement.
Article 36. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Lakeside Drive, so-called; as laid out
the Selectmen and to appropriate a sum of money for the im- provement of the same, or take any action relative thereto .- Voted no action.
Article 37. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, a portion of Totnes Road, so-called, beginning at the end of the layout of March 16, 1931, and extending in a westerly direction approximately 120'; as laid out by the Select- men and to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action relative thereto .- Voted no action.
Article 38. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to ac- cept as and for a Town Way, a portion of North Bowditch Street, so- called, running southerly from Hayward Street to a distance of about

702'; as laid out by the Selectmen and to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That a portion of North Bowditch Street, so-called, run- ning southerly from Hayward Street to a distance of about 702 feet, as laid out by the Selectmen, be accepted as and for a town way, that the sum of $4,421.00 be raised and appropriated for the improvement of the same and that betterments be assessed to the extent of 66 2/3% of the cost of said improvement.
Article 39. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Plymouth Avenue, so-called, running southeasterly from Arbutus Avenue to a distance of about 155'; as laid- out by the Selectmen and to appropriate a sum of money for the im- provement of the same, or take any action relative thereto .- Voted no action.
Article 40. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, a portion of Common Street and Staten Road, as laid out by the Selectmen and to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action rela- tive thereto .- Voted no action.
Article 41. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to accept as and for a Town Way, Howie Road, so-called, from Acorn Street to Walnut Street; as laid out by the Selectmen and to appro- priate a sum of money for the improvement of the same, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That Howie Road, so-called, from Acorn Street to Walnut Street, as laid out by the Selectmen, be accepted as and for a Town Way.
Article 42. ON PETITION. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to lay out as and for a Town Way, that part of Thayer Road, so-called, running northeasterly from the end of the present layout to Shaw Street, or take any action relative thereto .- So Voted.
Article 43. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for building a sidewalk in front of the South Congregational Church and improving the Town's property adjacent thereto, or take any action relative thereto .- Voted no action.
Article 44. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for construction of sidewalk on Plain Street from Washington Street to Grove Street, or take any action relative thereto .- Voted no action.
Article 45. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for construction of sidewalk on Grove Street from Plain Street to Weymouth Town Line, or take any action relative thereto .- Voted no action.
Article 46. ON PETITION. To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for construction of sidewalk on Pond Street from the Colbert School to the Randolph-Braintree Line, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That the sum of $3,556.00 be raised and appropriated for the construction of a suitable sidewalk from the Colbert School to the Randolph Line on the east side of Pond Street in South Brain-

tree; said sum to be expended only if the Selectmen in their order for said construction provide for the assessment of 50% of the cost thereof upon the abutting estates.
Article 47. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to add to funds appropriated under Article 68 at the 1946 Annual Town Meeting for the purpose of completing the construction of a bulkhead and public landing on the North side of Weymouth Fore River, for approximately 287' easterly from the Quincy Avenue Bridge.
Voted: That, in addition to funds appropriated under Article 68 of the Warrant for the 1946 Annual Town Meeting, there be appro- priated the sum of $8,000.00 for the purpose of completing construc- tion of the Bulkhead and public landing on the north side of Weymouth Fore River for approximately 287 feet easterly from the Quincy Ave- nue Bridge, said sum to be raised by transfer from Sale of Real Estate Funds and to be expended (together with the carry-over balance of the 1946 appropriation) under direction of a committee consisting of Harry Sears, John Goodhue, John C. Wilder, Warren B. Nott, Justin E. Wright, John E. McLeod and Seward Taber, said committee to select its own chairman, and all vacancies occurring on the committee to be filled by the Moderator.
Voted as an amendment that the following words be added: "Who- ever receives the contract for the construction of the new bulkhead, be bonded".
Voted: That the matter of the contract dated August 16, 1946, between the Town and John Kitson, covering the construction of a bulkhead on the north side of Weymouth Fore Rivre, be referred to the Town Counsel for full investigation of the question as to whether it was properly performed by the contractor, and that the Town Coun- sel be instructed to take such legal action on behalf of the Town in connection with said contract and its performance by the contractor, as the Town Counsel deems for the best interests of the Town.
Article 48. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money for the purpose of chlorinating that portion of Sunset Lake comprising the bathing area between June 1, 1947 and Septem- ber 15, 1947, and designate the Department which shall be responsible for the expenditure of such appropriation, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That there be raised and appropriated the sum of $1,400.00 for the purpose of chlorinating that portion of Sunset Lake comprising the bathing area between June 1, 1947, and September 15, 1947, the same to be expended under the direction of the Water Con- missioners.
Article 49. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of three hundred dollars $(300.00) for Memorial Day ob- servance expenses of the Braintree Post, V.F.W., No. 1702, or take any action relative thereto .- No action necessary.
Article 50. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of three hundred dollars ($300.00) for Memorial Day observ- ance expenses of the Braintree Post, No. 86, American Legion, or take any action relative thereto .- No action necessary.
Article 51. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to ap- propriate for the purpose of creating a stabilization fund under the authority of Section 5B of Chapter 40 of the General Laws.

Voted unanimously: That there be appropriated the sum of $50,000.00 for the purpose of creating a Stabilization Fund in ac- cordance with Section 5B of Chapter 40 of the General Laws, the same to be raised by transfer from available funds in the treasury.
Article 52. To see if the Town will vote to use all or part of the Postwar Rehabilitation Fund established under the authority of Sec- tion 1 of Chapter 5, of the Acts of 1943 to meet appropriations voted under any of the articles of this warrant for any purpose permitted by said Chapter 5 .- Voted no action.
Article 53. To see what distribution the Town will vote to make of the income of the Thayer Fund .- No action necessary.
Article 54. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate to meet the payment of certain bills contracted prior to January 1, 1947, or take any action relative thereto .- Voted $1,479.11.
Article 55. To determine what amount, if any, of the balance in the Electric Light Operation account at the close of the year 1946 or what amount in the Construction account if the operation balance has been closed, shall be paid into the general funds of the Town, and what disposition shall be made of the amount so paid.
Voted: To transfer $50,000.00 from the Construction Account of the Municipal Light Plant for use of the School Department. (See Article 7-Item 37.)
Article 56. To see if the Town will vote to authorize and direct the Assessors to use any sum or sums of money from Free Cash toward reduction of the 1947 Tax Rate .- Voted $100,000.00.
Article 57. To see if the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate money for the purpose of providing housing for Veterans of World War II, as authorized by Chapter 372, Public Laws of 1946, or more specifically for the purpose of doing any one or more of the following:
(1) Establishing an information center to assist veterans to find sale or rental housing.
(2) Making investigations and surveys relating to the housing supply and needs.
(3) Acquiring buildings or portions thereof by gift, purchase, lease or otherwise and altering, reconstructing, repairing or remodeling such buildings or portions thereof into dwelling units for rental to veterans.
(4) Acquiring land by purchase, lease or otherwise and construct- ing housing thereon for sale or rent to veterans or develop- ing such land and selling it in whole or in part to veterans for the purpose of constructing housing thereon or to corpo- rations or individuals for the purpose of constructing housing for sale or rent to veterans .- Voted no action.
Arti-le 58. To see if the Town will vote to choose a committee to make a survey of and examine into so much of its existing By-Laws as deals with zoning, so-called, and make available for the expenses of such Committee the amount heretofore appropriated under Article 14 of the Annual Town Meeting Warrant for 1946.
Voted: That the present Committee present its report to the Planning Board on or before January 1, 1948, and the amount here-

tofore appropriated under Article 14 of the 'Annual Town Meeting War- rant for 1946, be made available for the expenses of said Committee.
Article 59. To see if the Town will vote to instruct the Selectmen to review the boundaries of the precincts in the Town with a view to revising same in whole or in part in accordance with the provisions of Section 2, Chapter 17, of the Acts of 1937, or take any action relative thereto.
Voted: That the Selectmen be instructed to review the boundaries of the precincts in the Town with a view to revising same in whole or in part, in accordance with the provisions of Section 2, Chapter 17, of the Acts of 1937.
Article 60. To see if the Town will vote to accept Section 4B of Chapter 136 of the General Laws as inserted by Section 3 of Chapter 207 of the Acts of 1946 which provides in substance that upon its accept- ance the Selectmen may grant licenses for the operation of bowling alleys on the Lords' Day between the hours of 1 and 11 P.M .- So Voted.
Article 61. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Select- men to appoint an Airport Commission of five persons in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts .- So Voted.
Article 62. To see if the Town will vote to authorize, empower and direct the Selectmen to secure from the Federal Works Agency or appropriate agency of the Federal Government the necessary monies for the development of working plans and specifications for the pro- posed construction of a Braintree Municipal Airport.
Voted: That the Town authorize, empower and direct the Select- men to secure from the Federal Works Agency, or appropriate agency of the Federal Government, the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for the development of working plans and specifications for the pro- posed construction of a Braintree Municipal Airport.

Voted: That the Selectmen be authorized to represent the Town in any proceedings concerning the relocation of the Grade Crossing on Grove Street and to authorize the Chairman of said Selectmen to sign an agreement with respect to such alteration in accordance with the provisions of Section 80 of Chapter 159 of the General Laws as most recently amended by Section 2 of Chapter 357 of the Acts of 1934.
Article 64. To see if the Town will vote to increase the number of Selectmen from three to five, or take any action relative thereto .- No action.
Article 65. To see what sums of money, in addition to that ap- propriated under any other article, the Town will vote to raise or borrow and appropriate for Land Damages .- Voted no action.

Special Town Meeting
September 8, 1947
Article 1. To hear and act upon the report of the several boards of Town Officers, and committees, and choose any committee the Town may think proper.
Voted: That this article be taken up in conjunction with all other articles.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to purchase, lease, acquire by gift or by taking by eminent domain buildings on the westerly side of Quincy Avenue now the property of the United States which build- ings may be made available at their present location for dwelling units for veterans, as defined in Section 3 of Chapter 372 of the Acts of 1946, together with the land and appurtenances thereto belonging and raise, appropriate and expend a sum or sums of money therefor and for the altering, reconstructing, rehabilitating and remodelling of said build- ings so as to provide the greatest number of suitable dwelling units reasonably possible and renting such dwelling units at reasonable rates and to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Select- men, to borrow all, or any part of said sums, in accordance with the provisions of any general or special acts authorizing the Town to borrow for said purpose, or take any other action relative thereto .- Voted no action.
Article 3. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise, appropriate and expend for the purpose of providing shelter for vet- erans, as defined in Section 3 of Chapter 372 of the Acts of 1946, who are inhabitants thereof in accordance with any or all of the provisions of Section 6 of said Chapter 372, as amended, or take such other ac- tion relative thereto under any provision of said chapter as is suitable or necessary and to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow all, or any part of said sums, in accordance with the provisions of any general or special acts authorizing the Town to borrow for said purpose, or take any other action relative thereto.
Voted: That a Committee be appointed under 'Article 1 to investi- gate the Veterans' Housing Situation and report at a Town Meeting not later than the next Annual Town Meeting, said Committee to consist of : Ernest J. Janssen, Jonathan W. French, William B. Taylor, William G. Brooks and Carroll A. Welch, with the Chairman to be elected by the Committee.
Article 4. To see what sums of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the laying out and construction of ways and the laying of water mains in and through a tract of land in the vicinity of Blanchard Boulevard or take any action relative thereto .- Voted no action.
