The library has been open 99 sessions, the circulation being 4,972 With the town appropriation of $150, 156 books have been purchased, each of which bears a label " Town Appropriation, 1897," and they have been so recorded in the accession book of the library. The interest of the C. W. Flint Fund has been expended in the purchase of a new encyclopaedia, Allen's History of Chelms- ford, and four other volumes.

During the year, the library, now numbering 3,250 volumes, has been classified and a card catalogue and finding list are being prepared, by the Librarian, at no expense to the Association other than for the purchase of materials.
