Since the town began to collect and dispose of the rubbish, the yards and vacant lots about town are in a much more san- itary condition and may have a great deal to do with the small number of contagious diseases the last year. There are some people who are dumping in the vacant lots about the village and if any person will furnish evidence that any person is doing so, the Board will surely take legal action against them.

REPORT OF INSPECTOR OF SLAUGHTERING
To the Members of the Board of Health:
Gentlemen:
That I might accommodate as many of the citizens as possi- ble and to make it convenient for them, I granted a license in each section of the town if applied for. Two were granted in No. Middleboro, two in the center, one in So. Middleboro and one in East Middleboro, each being obliged to get the con- sent of the inspector, that he might be present when the slaughtering was being done.
The buildings are kept in a clean and sanitary condition, being thoroughly washed after each killing.
During the year ending Dec. 31, 1913 there were one hun- dred and twenty six (126) neat cattle, three hundred and thirty five (335) Hogs, and one hundred and thirty seven (137) Veals slaughtered. One hog was condemned for Tuberculosis and one of Borochitis.
Respectfully yours,
J. H. WHEELER, T. F. CONWAY.
Inspectors of Slaughtering.
REPORT OF INSPECTOR OF MILK
To the Members of the Board of Health:
Gentlemen :
We have again enjoyed twelve months which has been free from epidemics due to our local milk supply. This supply has been kept up to its high standard of last year. Many changes have taken place but the new men are striving just as hard to produce clean milk, and they are succeeding.
33
There have been many improvements in the dairies about town and the dealers are adding modern equipments as fast as their means will allow them to do so.
There were Forty Licenses granted for the sale of milk in Middleboro in 1913.
Respectfully yours, J. H. WHEELER, T. F. CONWAY. Inspectors of Milk.
REPORT OF THE INSPECTOR OF ANIMALS
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen of the Town of Middleboro:
I make my report of the inspection of animals for the year 1913.
860 Cattle, 257 Swine, 2 Sheep, 4 Goats, 310 Stables. Animals killed for contagious diseases:
1 Horse for Mange, 1 Cow for Tuberculosis, 2 Dogs for Mange, 12 Dogs for Rabies.
DR. T. F. CONWAY,
Inspector of Animals.

REPORT OF FOREST WARDEN
The year 1913 had only one serious forest fire which started at three o'clock July 4, on land of Gilbert H. Simmons near what is known as the "Kildee field". It crossed Sachem street and burned over about 100 acres causing an estimated damage of $1500.
On account of the dry weather during the summer the bills for keeping small fires under control are often larger than the damage caused by the fire.
In 1913 I drew from the town $378.92 and in 1914 $237.30 which was paid as follows for fighting the following fires. 1911.
Dec. 30 Grove street land of E. S. Hathaway 40

In view of the extreme dryness last year and the large area of this town, our showing was an excellent one and is due in a great measure to the cooperation of the citizens of the town with the Warden and their willingness to obey the laws, and I desire to express my appreciation and to thank them for their assistance.
As I was unwilling to hold the office any longer the Select- men have appointed William H. Connor as Forest Warden and I bespeak for him the same support that I received, and the hope that he will have no serious fire to fight.
Respectfully submitted, CHESTER E. WESTON Forest Warden.

The following is a partial list of produce raised at the Farm the past year :
Hay 25 tons
Corn 1025 bushels
Corn Fodder 17 tons
Potatoes 110 bushels
Rye straw 12 ton
Carrots 15 bushels
Cabbages 1 ton
Onions 6 bushels
Peas 25 bushels
Beets 10 bushels
Turnips 58 bushels
Beans 6 bushels
Rye 5 bushels
Eggs 450 dozen
Milk 8,310 gallons
The total receipts of the Farm are about $130.00 in excess of last year, while the expenses of maintaining the Farm are about $150.00 less. We believe that there has been a saving of $800.00 or more this year in maintaining our Farm under its present efficient management, rather than boarding out the inmates at $6.00 per week, even if it were possible to do so at that price.
We greatly appreciate the aid that has been rendered by Churches and Charitable Societies of our Town in relieving the distress of many poor families.
.
52
The total expense of the entire Poor Department for 1913 including payment of an overdraft of 1912 of $233.14 is near- ly $800. 00 less than that of the previous year which is account- ed for in part by the removal of some families from town and others that have become self-supporting. The ensuing year already shows evidence that the expense of our outside poor may be greatly increased.
Respectfully submitted,
CHARLES W. KINGMAN, CHARLES M. THATCHER, EDWIN F. WITHAM.
