FLINT PUBLIC LIBRARY.
EIGHTEENTH ANNUAL REPORT.
We are pleased to note the continued use and evident ap- preciation of the advantages afforded by our Library. The reading room is almost constantly occupied during Library hours, and it is gratifying to know that our people can have access to the best of current periodical literature.
It is said that " the largest part of every man's education is that which he gives himself." It seems that the public Library is an excellent opportunity and means to carry on this work.
The books which have been added to the Library during the past year include a fine set of Johnson's Cyclopedia which will prove a valuable addition to our works of reference.
We have received from Robert C. Winthrop, Jr., seven vol- umes, five of which contained "Addresses and Speeches delivered by Robert C. Winthrop," and two of the volumes contain the "Life and Letters of John Winthrop, Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony."
We are indebted to the courtesy of Mr. W. S. Armstrong for the Dolgeville N. Y. Herald.
Following are the publications to be found on the reading- room table :
Weekly :- Youth's Companion, Life, Harper's Scientific American, and Dolgeville Herald.
33
FLINT PUBLIC LIBRARY.
Monthly :- Atlantic, Antiquarian, Century, Scribner's, New Engand Magazine, Forum, Review of Reviews, McClure's, Popu- lar Science Monthly, Our Dumb Animals, St. Nicholas, Munsey's.
