FLINT PUBLIC LIBRARY .- Twenty-third Report.

The Trustees of Flint Public Library herewith submit their report for the year ending February 1, 1902.

At an early meeting of the Trustees, it was decided that something must be done to have the Library Building prop- erly lighted, as the system then in use was inadequate. To this end Messrs. J. H. Curtis, A. P. Tyler and R. G. Peabody were appointed as a committee to procure a plant that would properly light the building. After carefully investigating the different systems of lighting, a contract was made with the Walworth Manufacturing Company of Boston, to install a plant that would be satisfactory to the committee. We now feel that we have one of the best lighted Library Build- ings in the State.

We are grateful to the Heirs of the late Sarah P. Batchel- der for the portrait of the late Joseph A. Batchelder, which now adorns the walls of the reading room. Mr. Batchelder was a former Trustee, and always interested in the success of the Library.

For books added during the year see Librarian's Report.
