SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.

To either of the Constables of the town of Weymouth in said county, GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid, qualified to vote in elections, to meet at the polling places in their respective precincts, viz. : in precincts numbered one, two, three and five in the halls of the fire engine houses, located respec- tively in these precincts, and in precinct numbered four, in the Town Hall. On Monday, the twenty-second day of April, 1889, at eight o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to bring in to the wardens of the several precincts their ballots, for or against the following proposed article of Amendment to the Constitution of this Commonwealth, viz. : -
" The manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors to be used as a beverage are prohibited."
" The General Court shall enact suitable legislation to enforce the provisions of this article."
Which ballots shall be in form as follows : -
" Amendment to the Constitution, Yes or No."
The polls will be opened at eight o'clock in the forenoon and may be closed at twelve o'clock noon. And you are required to serve this warrant by posting up attested copies thereof in three public places in each ward of said town, seven days, at least, before the time of holding said meeting.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the town clerk of said town, three days at least before the time of meeting aforesaid.

WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS,
NORFOLK, SS.
To either of the Constables of the Town of Weymouth, in said County, GREETING :
In the name of said Commonwealth you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid, qualified to vote in elections, to meet at the Town House in said town, on Tuesday, the fifteenth day of October instant, at half past seven o'clock in the afternoon, then and there to act on the following articles, viz. :
ART. 1. To chose a Moderator for said meeting.
ART. 2. To see if the Town will authorize and instruct its treasurer to prepare and issue coupon bonds of the town, to be denominated "Weymouth Water Loan," payable in thirty years from their date, with interest at the rate of four per centum per annum, payable semi-annually, to an amount not exceeding fifty thousand dollars ; in such amounts and at such times as the Board of Water Commissioners of said town shall by vote, request, for the purposes named, and in accordance with the authority granted by Chap. 220 of the Acts of the Legislature for the current year, entitled " An Act to authorize the Town of Weymouth to make an additional water loan."
ART. 3. To see if the Town will authorize its treasurer, with the approval of its Water Commissioners, to sell said bonds at private sale, or to pledge the same for money borrowed for the purposes named in Sect. 4, of Chap. 174 of the Acts of the Legis-

lature, passed in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty- one.
ART. 4. By request, to see if the town will build a sidewalk adjoining the estate of Alpheus Bates, on the corner of Middle and Broad streets, and curb the same with sixteen-inch granite curb- ing, to be completed before the first day of November next, and will appropriate money for constructing the same; provided that the said Bates shall convey to the town, for the purposes of a public way, about four hundred square feet of land on said corner, as shown by a plan made by Quincy L. Reed, surveyor, to be recorded with said conveyance.
ART. 5. By request of the Building Committee, to see if the town will vote to appropriate the sum of one thousand dollars for the purpose of completing the new schoolhouse in Ward 2.
And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting attested copies thereof, in three public places in each Ward in said town, seven days at least before the time of holding said meeting.
Hereof fail not and make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk, at or before the time of said meeting.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING.

Pursuant to the foregoing warrant a meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Weymouth qualified to vote in elections, was held in the Town House on Tuesday, Oct. 15, A. D. 1889, the meeting was called to order at 7.30 o'clock P. M., and the warrant read by the Town Clerk.
Mr. Nathan D. Canterbury was elected as Moderator, by ballot, the check list being used in said election.
The Moderator appointed Messrs. Z. L. Bicknell and Edgar R. Downs as Tellers, and they were sworn by the Town Clerk.
There not being a quorum present, it was voted to adjourn to the engine house in Ward 2, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 8 o'clock P. M.

ADJOURNED TOWN MEETING.
An adjourned Town Meeting was held in the Engine Hall, Ward 2, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1889, the meeting being called to order at 8 o'clock P. M., by the Moderator, Mr. Nathan D. Canterbury.
In the absence of Mr. Edgar R. Downs, one of the Tellers ap- pointed at the previous meeting, the Moderator appointed Mr. James J. Mahoney in his place, and he was sworn by the Town Clerk.
By request of the Moderator, the Tellers reported that there were but ninety-five voters present, and on account of there not being a quorum, it was voted to adjourn for ten minutes.
At 8.15 o'clock P.M., the time having expired, the meeting was again called to order, and the Tellers reported that one hundred and six voters were present, and Article 2d of the warrant was taken up.
ART. 2. Voted, That the town hereby authorizes an increase of its debt for the purposes mentioned in Sect. 4, of Chap. 174, of the Acts of the Legislature for the year 1881, to an amount not exceeding $50,000, in accordance with the provisions of Chap. 220 of the Acts of the Legislature for the year 1889 entitled " An Act to authorize the town of Weymouth to make an additional water loan "; and that its Treasurer is hereby instructed to cause to be made fifty coupon bonds of this town, each for the sum of one thousand dollars as principal, payable in thirty years from its date, with interest payable semi-annually at the rate of four per cent per annum, to be denominated upon its face, " Weymouth Water Loan," and each bond to be sealed with its corporate seal, and to be signed in its behalf by said Treasurer, and countersigned by the chairman of its Board of Selectmen.

Also that its Treasurer be and is hereby instructed to issue these- bonds in such amounts, and at such times as the Board of Water- Commissioners of this town shall by vote, from time to time re -- quest ; and that all bonds, before issue, shall be approved by said Board of Water Commissioners, and signed by the clerk of the board in attestation of such approval. The result of the above vote was Yes, 109 ; No, 0.
ART. 3. Voted, That this town hereby authorizes its Treasurer with the approval of its Board of Water Commissioners, to sell the. bonds authorized by its last vote, or any portion of them, either at public, or private sale, or to pledge the same, as collateral, for- money borrowed for the purposes named in Sect. 4, of Chap. 174, of the Acts of the Legislature, for the year 1881, entitled " Ana Act to supply the town of Weymouth with pure water"; and that the Treasurer shall hold the moneys received from the sale, or- pledge of such bonds subject to the appropriation thereof, already made, or to be made by vote of the town for the purposes above- named. The result of the above vote was Yes, 103 ; No, 0.
ART. 4.
