ANNUAL REPORT.


TOWN MEETING,


To be held March 7th, 1898 at 9 o'clock in the forenoon.


1st. To choose a Moderator.


2d. To hear the annual report of the Town Officers and act thereon.


3d. To raise and appropriate a sum of money for highways, town-ways, town-ways and bridges and to de- termine the expenditure of the same.


4th. To see if the Town will accept and approve of the Jurors nominated by the Selectmen and act thereon.


5th. To hear the report of the Auditor and act -


thereon.


6th. To choose all necessary Town Officers for the year ensuing, including an Auditor and to vote "Yes" or "No" on the question, "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this Town?"


7th. To raise such sums of money as may be neces- sary to defray Town charges for the year ensuing and ap- propriate the same.


8th. To see if the Town will allow a discount to persons making a voluntary payment of their taxes on or before some date that may be fixed by the Town and charge interest after a date the Town may fix.


9th. To see if the Town will authorize the Treasurer to hire money under the direction of the Selectmen to pay Town charges.

10th. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum of money to purchase books for the Public Library.


11th. To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer to hire under the direction of the Selectmen a sum of money sufficient to pay all outstanding bills against the Town and two notes now held, one by the Bristol County National Bank for $600, made in 1893, and one held by the Bristol County Savings Bank for $800, made in 1896, the whole amount not to exceed $3200. The same to be in time notes payable annually.


12th. To determine the compensation of the Treasurer and Collector of taxes.


13th. To see if the Town will instruct the Overseers of the Poor to hire a Superintendent of the Town Farm for the year succeeding their term of office.


14th. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum of money for the observance of Memorial day.


15th. To see what action the Town will take in re- lation to the hearing before the Railroad Commissioners held Jan. 26, 1898, relating to the fares charged on the Dighton, Somerset Street Railway and act thereon.


16th. To choose three Fish Wardens.


17th. To choose three Oyster Wardens.


18th. To see if the Town will raise and appropriate a sum of money to paint and repair the Almshouse.
