Voted to choose a committee of five to investigate the matter of Public Library building and to confer with Andrew Carnegie, Esq., in regard to his offer to give $6000 for said building to report at the next annual Town Meeting or sooner if they deem best. The Selectmen, Charles S. Chase, George M. Chase and Willard J. Reed with Dwight F. Lane and E. Elsworth Lincoln as that committee.
Voted that the Selectmen take such action as they deem best for the prevention of furthur pollution of Taun- ton river by sewerage disposal and that they demand that the city of Taunton cease to empty their sewerage into said river.
Voted that the compensation of the Town Treasurer be the same as last year which was fifty dollars.
The taxes were sold to H. N. Walker and he was duly elected Tax Collector, he agreeing to pay to the town 99 per cent of all legally assessed taxes on or before Jan. 5, 1906.
Voted to instruct the Tax Collector to proceed to col- lect according to law all taxes not paid Nov. 1st, 1905, interest to be charged after that date.
Clarence C. Andrews was excused and his name taken off the Jury list.

Voted to authorize the Overseers of Poor to hire a town physician for the year succeeding their term of office.
Voted to authorize the Overseers of Poor to hire a superintendent of almshouse for year succeeding their term of office.
Voted that for the purpose of procuring a temporary loan to and for the use of the town of Dighton in anticipa- tion of the taxes of the present municipal year. The Town Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to borrow from time to time with the approval of a majority of the selectmen a sum or sums not exceeding in the aggregate eight thousand dollars, and to execute and deliver the note or notes of the town therefor payable within one year from the time the loan is made, any debt or debts incurred by a loan or loans to the town under this vote shall be paid from the said taxes of the present municipal year.
Voted to accept the report of town officers as printed, also the Auditor's report.

out and expend two-thirds of the highway appropriation before the first day of July, and that the Selectmen be instructed not to draw any order for the payment of over one-third of the appropriation after July 1st.
At the adjourned meeting held April 1, 1905, it was voted that the compensation for labor on highway be the same as last year and that the Selectmen be instructed to fill all vacancies in the town offices by appointment.
The Old Colony Street Railway petitioned for the right to carry freight and baggage in the limits of Dighton. I'pon said petition the Board of Selectmen ordered a hearing to be held March 25, 1905, where all parties might be heard relative to said petition. There being no opposi- tion to said petition. The right to carry freight and bag- gage was granted to said street railway.
At a town meeting held April 27, 1905, the following votes were passed relative to the proposed State highway through the town on Somerset avenue.
Joseph E. Sears was chosen Moderator by ballot.
Voted that the town waive its right to enter into a contract for the building of said section of State highway.
Voted that the Selectmen be and are hereby author- ized to give bond to indemnify the Commonwealth of Massachusetts against damage caused by the layout, con- struction, change of grade and taking of land for said piece of State highway on Somerset avenue from Rose's corner to Walter Talbot's.
Voted that the Selectmen be authorized to settle all land damages caused by the construction, layout, change of grade and taking of land for the said piece of State highway from Rose's corner to Walter Talbot's.

Voted to accept the report of committee on Public Library and refer the same back to the same committee for further consideration.
Voted that the committee on permanent improvement of streets ascertain the probable cost of macadam on Lincoln Ave. and Tremont street from Lincoln Ave. to Somerset Ave.
Voted that Charles S. Chase be a committee of one to correspond with the person or persons wishing to locate in Dighton for manufacturing purposes and report at an adjourned meeting.
The right was granted the Southern Massachusetts Telephone Co., to ercet poles, wires and all necessary strengthening fixtures on the following streets, Williams street from Cedar street to Swansea line, Williams street from Centre street to Taunton line. Spring street from Taunton city line to Lincoln avenue, Lincoln avenue 12 poles south from Spring street.
At the State election held Nov., 7, 1905, the following ballot clerks were appointed and qualified : Nathan O. Walker and Henry E. Williams as tellers, Robert Allen and John T. MeCabe with Willard J. Reed, Charles A. Chase and Albert N. Goff as assistant tellers. The polls were opened at 6 o'clock A. M. and closed at 3.30 o'clock P. M.

money or securities that may be deposited with the said Treasurer for the preservation, perpetual care. improve- ment,or embelishment of any public or private burial place situated in the town or of any burial lots situated in such burial places.
On Nov. 17, 1905, the City Clerk of Taunton with the Town Clerks of Dighton and Berkley met at City Hall in Taunton and examined the transcripts of votes for representatives and found that Charles H. Macomber of Berkley was elected.
