REPORT OF TOWN NURSE 1930
Board of Health, Board of Selectmen, Dighton, Massachusetts.
Gentlemen :---
In the past year when the surrounding towns bordering upon Dighton were unfortunate enough to have contagious diseases, we seemed to be included and had a number of cases of Scarlet Fever, Whooping Cough, Chicken Pox and German Measles. The general run of the diseases, in most cases, was light, especially in Scarlet Fever, so much so in some instances, that it was difficult to diagnose. The co-operation on the part of the visiting physicians was greatly appreciated.
72
ANNUAL REPORT
A great number of people this year have taken advantage of the Visiting Nurse Service that both the Metropolitan and John Hancock Insurance Companies give. Any information as to this service will gladly be given either by the agents or the Nurse.
The social welfare work has taken much time, but it is time and labor profitably spent. Although, at times, it becomes necessary for cases to be taken into Court, it is done for the best advantage to the person or persons, home and community.
I wish to thank at this time, the community and the Mount Hope Finishing Company for their generous donations of clothing and food. These contributions have been distributed to worthy and needy families, for which they have been most grateful. I wish also to express my appreciation to the town offiicals and others who have rendered such willing service during the past year.

ANNUAL REPORT
REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS
To the Inhabitants of Dighton :-
Wellington Street from near the Rehoboth Line to a point East of the School House, has been macadamized jointly by the Department of Public Works and the Town, costing Thirty-Four Thousand, Eight Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars and Fifty-Seven Cents. Land damages were paid by the Town. The Department is eager to complete the remainder of the Street to. Williams Street and it is hoped that the Town will be able to join with the State.
The Department has reconstructed Winthrop Street. The Town has repaired the North side of Center Street and re- built a section of the sidewalk on the North side of Main Street. A special appropriation should be made to cut bushes on the sides of the streets and to repair the shoulders on Wil- liams Street.
During the past two seasons, a very liberal application of gravel has been applied to all of our dirt roads, costing about $17,000. This will not be required again the coming year.
The detailed report of the Deputies indicates that a sub- stantial reduction of the annual appropriation for general repairs can be made.
Dighton, Mass., Dec. 31, 1930.

The Honorable Board of Selectmen,
Dighton, Massachusetts.
