REPORT OF TOWN CLERK
(EXCERPTS FROM TOWN MEETING RECORDS)
(March 2)
Voted that the compensation for labor on the highways be fifty cents an hour, and that the compensation for trucks and teams for the ensuing year be the same as last year.
Motion by Wilfred B. Loring duly seconded, that Art. 12 be laid on the table. Decision questioned and the house divided by a standing vote declared by the moderator as follows: Yes, 49. No, 13.
(Art. 12 sought to discontinue the Road Commissioner system and place the roads in the hands of the selectmen under a superintendent of streets)
Motion by Frank E. Barrows duly seconded to reconsider action taken under Art. 12. House divided and the result declared by the moderator as follows: Yes, 36. No, 40.
Voted to authorize a committee of three to examine the South Carver School house and consider the advisability of replacing the building with a new one and report at the next annual town meeting. And if said committee deem it wise to recommend the building of a new school house, it is authorized to present plans and estimates of the cost of said building with its report.
Under the above vote the moderator named the following South School-house committee:

(April 25)
Motion by Frank E. Barrows duly seconded-
"That we rescind the action taken at the annual town meeting held March 2, 1931, whereby under Art. 9 it voted to pay fifty cents per hour on the highway for labor, and substitute therefor that the rate of compensation be left with the Road Commissioners as in former years."
The motion was decided by a yes and no vote and declared lost by the moderator.
Voted to raise and appropriate a sum of money not to exceed $425.00 for the purpose of installing a siren in the town of Carver, location to be designated by the selectmen and Forest Warden.
