A State Medical Plan, uniform in pattern throughout Mass- achusetts, was put into effect on July 1, 1954. The plan pro- vides for high standard medical services to public assistance recipients and is designed to cut medical costs. Due to the complexity of the plan, it has greatly increased the duties of the administrators in the cities and towns.
