FOR THE YEAR ENDING JAN. 31, 1899.
TO THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN :
The Fire Department is in good shape. Both companies have the required number of men, and they are always ready to respond to every call for duty.
We have had seven fires during the year.
February 3, Monks Block. Cause, spontaneous combustion. Damage small.
March 23, Elmwood Hotel. Cause, bursting of lamp. Dam- age large, partial loss.
April 10, Willard Harwood, storehouse. Occupied by J. E. Lonergan. Cause, incendiary. Total loss.
July 4, John Mason, barn. Caused by lightning. Total loss. July 21, Second Congregational Church. Struck by lightning. Damage by fire small.
July 30, Hamlet Wight, barn. Struck by lightning. Damage small.
September 20, William Weiker, barn. Caused by overturning lantern. Total loss.
