REMARKS.
The number of births entered upon record the past year is fifty-two, being five in excess of the previous year. Over one-third of the number were children of parents of foreign birth. Six more female children were born than males. The importance of children being named at the close of the year has been repeatedly urged, and in years previous to 1899 parents have been quite prompt in heeding the sugges- tion, but in the past year's report eight omissions of chris- tian names occur, which is very much regretted by the re- cording clerk.
MARRIAGES.
The reports of forty-three marriages have been returned to this town for record the past year. Fifteen grooms and

twenty-seven brides were residents of this town. Twenty- eight brides and sixteen grooms were residents of other towns and cities. The age of the oldest groom is forty-six years, oldest bride is forty-three years. Youngest groom was twenty-one years, youngest bride fifteen years. Twelve different Clergymen, one Justice of the Peace, and one El- der, performed the several marriage rites. The number married by each is as follows: Rev. Mr. Smith, 7; Rev. Mr. Ford, 6; Rev. Mr. Chase, 6; Rev. Mr. Rowley, 2; Rev. Mr. Thompson, 2; Rev. Mr. Washburn, 2; Rev. Messrs. Docking, Richardson, Hamilton, Gove, Eddy, and Archibald, one each ; J. H. Paine, Justice of the Peace, 4; Elder Nathan C. Eldredge, 1.
DEATHS.
Forty-three deaths have been returned to the Town Clerk's office for record the past year. The age of the oldest male person given is eighty-six, and the oldest female is seventy- nine years. The leading cause of death appears to be heart disease in its various forms. It is an unusual occurrence that three deaths caused by accidental burning are recorded in one year, as will be seen in the foregoing tabulated report.
