REPORT OF TRUSTEES OF PRATT FUND.
AT a legal town meeting holden April 9, 1875, the following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted by a standing vote : -
Whereas, The late Nathan Pratt, by his will, bequeathed to the Town of Arlington the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars, for the following purposes, namely, ten thousand dollars for a Public Library, ten thousand dollars for the benefit of the High School, and five thousand dollars for the Poor Widows' Fund, -
Resolved, That the Town hereby accepts said bequests for the purposes designated in the will.
Resolved, That the citizens of the Town of Arlington would place on record their grateful recognition of the exalted generosity and thoughtful public spirit manifested by their late fellow-citizen in this noble gift, and their assurance that his name will be ever kept in honored remembrance through the broad and constant benefits which his liberality has secured.
A committee consisting of Messrs. Robbins, Schouler, Par- menter, Wells, and Hodgdon, were appointed, with instruc- tions to report, at an adjourned meeting, a plan for the man- agement and investment of the fund thus bequeathed to the Town.
At town meeting held April 30, 1875, Nathan Robbins, chairman of the committee previously appointed, made the following report, which was adopted : -
Voted, That the bequests to the town, under the will of the late Nathan Pratt, Esq., amounting in all to the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars, shall be held by the town for the purposes named. in the will, and shall constitute a separate fund to be styled the " Pratt Fund," which shall be managed and invested by a Board of Trustees. Said Board of Trustees shall consist of five citizens of the town, and the Town Treasurer for the

time being ; said five Citizen Trustees shall at first be selected by the town, one for the term of five years, one for the term of four years, one for the term of three years, one for the term of two years, and one for the term of one year, from the annual meeting in March of the present year. The town shall hereafter elect one member of said Board for the term of five years, by ballot, at the annual meeting in March in each year ; and at such meeting shall, by election by ballot, fill any vacancy which shall exist by reason of the death, resignation, or removal from town, of any Trustee for the remainder of his term.
