ASSESSORS' REPORT.
The Assessors of Arlington desire to call the attention of the citizens of the Town to the rapid increase in the expenses of the Town. Comparing the year 1906 with 1913, the Town grant in 1906 was $169,571, in 1913 $286,260, an increase of more than 68 per cent, whereas the increase in valuation is only 43 per cent, and the increase in the number of tax payers is only 30 per cent.
In addition to the tax of $22.60, it is also well to remember that there are other taxes to be added to this, such as poll, sewer, betterment, water, street watering, bank and corporation, gypsy moth, etc., amounting to over $70,000.
Believing that it would be of interest to know how each $22.60 is spent the following list is appended :
