REPORT OF FIRE DEPARTMENT

Hamilton, Mass., January 1, 1933.

To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:

Gentlemen: The Engineers of the Fire Department herewith submit their report for the year ending December 31, 1932.

During the year the department has responded to 61 alarms, as follows : 3 false, 14 still, 2 inhalator calls, 41 bell alarms in Hamil- ton, and 1 call for assistance from Ipswich. Total amount of hose laid, 10,650 feet of 21/2-inch, 4,800 feet of 11/2 -- inch, and 2,460 feet of 3/4-inch. 995 gallons of chemical has been used.

A Booster brake system, to increase the brake power, has been installed on the Seagrave. Two additional radiators and pressure tank have been installed for the heating plant. An Inhalator and Resuscitator has been purchased with a donation of $170.00 from the Company fund. It is the latest development in equipment for this kind of work.

With the assistance of the Unemployed Committee a reservoir connecting with Cutler's Pond was completed, with an unlimited supply of water for Fire Protection. Knowlton's Brook on Bridge Street and a brook on Sagamore Street was widened and made deeper for fire purposes. Both are an abundant supply of water for fires in this vicinity.

To prevent delays in responding to alarms, it is important that the calls be made in the proper manner.

In case of Fire call Fire Alarm Emergency on the telephone, then give your name and exact location of fire to the operator.

For Inhalator call telephone operator, give your name and location where equipment is needed.

We wish to thank the Wenham Fire Department for their assistance during the past year.

TO THE TAXPAYERS OF HAMILTON

The Assessors wish to impress on the voters the necessity of strict economy in Town expenditures, for the coming year especi- ally. The only way to reduce taxes is to reduce expense, which helps everyone. The State income and corporation taxes will be lower this year and also a loss on real and personal property valuation. Our one aim is to reduce taxes this year, which can be done only with your help.
