It was voted by a majority of the legal voters present and voting, that the treasurer be and hereby is authorized, with the approval of the selectmen, to borrow during the present municipal year, in anticipation of the collection of taxes, such sums of money as may be necessary for the current ex- penses of the town, but not exceeding the total tax levy for said year, giving the notes of the town therefor payable within twelve months from the date thereof. All debts in- curred under the authority of this vote shall be paid from the taxes of the present municipal year.


Article II. To hear and act on the report of any commit- tee heretofore chosen.


No reports were received at this time.


Article 12. To make allowance to town creditors.


Voted that the bill of George H. Vinal for $28 on ac- count of Alvin D. Vinal be allowed and paid.


Article 13. What sum of money will the town appropriate for the use of Post 112, G. A. R., on Memorial Day ? Included in vote on general appropriations.


Article 14. What sum of money will the town appropriate for the payment of state and military aid ?

Article 25. Will the town appropriate a sum of money for the employment of a school physician ?

Voted that the selectmen be instructed to call a caucus about two weeks before the next annual meeting.


Voted that the town clerk keep a record of all bodies brought into town for burial and that the names be published in the next annual report with the records of deaths.

Voted to instruct the school committee to see that the scholars in District No. I be transported to the Union Me- morial services this year.


Voted that the constables enforce the law against gamb: ling the ensuing year and that the town clerk send a copy of this vote to those who have not already taken the oath of office.


Voted that the selectmen investigate the charge made in their office last November and find out if the gentleman making it can substantiate his claim.

Voted that the money to be raised be assessed on the polls and estates of residents and on the estates of non-residents.


Voted that the selectmen pay no money to delinquent tax- payers.


Voted that the salary of the town treasurer be $150 ; tax collector, $225 ; highway surveyors, $2.50 per day ; secretary of school committee $50; other members not over $25 each.


Voted that the Moderator be paid $5 for services this day.


Voted that this meeting be dissolved.

STATE ELECTION


Pursuant to a warrant duly executed the qualified voters of the town of Norwell met at the Town Hall, Tuesday Nov. 3, 1908. Alpheus Thomas, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, was presiding officer. Ezra E. Stetson, William D. Turner, John Whalen, Charles Scully, Charles W. Thomas and Amos H. Tilden having been appointed election officers and ballot clerks were duly sworn as such by the town clerk. The polls were opened at 6 a. m. and closed at I p. m. Two hundred and twenty-eight ballots were cast, the check list and ballot box register showing a like number. On being canvassed and counted in open meeting they were found to be for the following persons and the result was de- clared :
