DON'T put your Directory in an out-of-the-way place, but keep it where your customers can see and use it without stopping someone to find it.
DON'T think that a Directory is paying for itself unless you use it, any more than an idle clerk can make you money.
DON'T look mad when a customer asks to look at your Directory.
DON'T look happy when a neighbor wants to borrow your Directory, for if you do, he will borrow it again, and if all were borrowers, when would the next Direc- tory be published ?
DON'T forget that an up-to-date city must have a Directory; and a merchant that has no Directory is what?

The Streets are arranged in Alphabetical order with the location of Intersecting Streets clearly shown.
Names of residents and business houses are arranged in numerical order upon their respective streets; on streets that are not numbered ciphers are used in place of a street number.
Business places are denoted by bold face numbers and business being given.
When a person's place of business and residence are the same place, it is indicatd by business being given and abbreviation h at the end of the line.
After the name of a street the word Street is omitted; the words Newton, Lincoln and Lexington, when referring to city or towns of those names, are followed by the word Line; when not followed by the word Line they are names of streets.
*An asterisk preceding a house number signifies that the house is incorrectly numbered.
Streets which have not been accepted by the city are indicated by an asterisk.
Streets, a part of which have been accepted and a part remains unaccepted, are indicated by two asterisks.
The symbol @ following the name of a householder indicates that the house is owned by the person listed, or by some member of the family.
This information is as received by the canvasser. The publisher does not and cannot guarantee its correctness.
The 4 preceding names denotes householders and places of business having telephones.
