Overview of Montgomery County Records

Montgomery County was created in 1776 from Frederick County.
Birth and death records from 1898 to 1921 can be obtained from the Maryland State Archives. Birth and death records from 1898 to the present can be obtained from the Maryland Department of Health.
The Montgomery County Clerk Circuit Court has marriage records starting in 1799, divorce records, court records starting in 1776, and land records starting in 1776. The 1830 federal census is missing.
