MARYLAND DEAF AND DUMB ASYLUM.


The Maryland Institution for the education of the deaf and dumb, at Frederick City, is properly speaking, one of the institutions for the State, yet it annually receives a liberal appropriation from the city government, and included among its benefactors are a large number from Baltimore. The educational de- partment is under the charge of Charles W. Ely, A. M. Agent on the part of the city, Wm. R. Barry.

THE JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPITAL.


This Hospital was established and endowed by the late Johns Hopkins, and is in course of erection upon the site of the old Maryland In- sane Asylum. The grounds front on Broad- way and Wolfe streets, each 650 feet; and on Monument and Jefferson streets, each 900 feet.


This Hospital is for the reception and treat- meut of the sick and injured, free of charge, and is designed to accommodate 300 persons. It is richly endowed and promises to be one of the largest and best Hospitals in our country.


There is a Convalescent Hospital and a Train- ing School for nurses, and an Orphan Asylum for colored children, established by the same benefactor, under the same Board of Trustees.
