runs from the village to the railroad station. The township schools are avail- able for the village population, and there is one church which belongs to the Methodist denomination. The villagers are favorably disposed toward manu- facturing industry, and a plant of any kind not requiring water power would be welcomed. A fair supply of labor can be readily secured. The soil is good, and the usual varieties of produce are raised on the farms. There are very few foreign immigrants in the locality.

New Brunswick (H 5), Middlesex County.
On the main line of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and the Raritan River Rail- road. Station of Pennsylvania road in center of the city, that of Raritan River line, about one-half mile from center. Population, 26,000. A banking town, with two national banks, one savings bank, and one trust company. Money order post office, telegraph and telephone connections. Express service, Adams, United States and several local companies. Value of taxable prop- erty, $13.243,079. Tax rate, $1.90.
New Brunswick has a fine water supply, and a sewer system extending to all parts of the city. Gas and electric plants for power and lighting; paved streets ; large stores of every description, trolley lines which furnish excellent local service, and connect with other roads running to practically all the popu- lous towns of the middle counties of the State are among the advantages enjoyed by residents of this city. Three daily and one weekly newspaper are published in the town, and in addition to the banks, there are six prosperous building and loan societies, with aggregate assets amounting to $200,000. There are five public schools of the grammar grade, one high school, and two private schools, one of them the famous Rutgers College. The churches- twenty-six in number-are divided among the following denominations : Baptist, Catholic, Episcopal, Hebrew, Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian. These denominations own from one to six churches each. There are also many lodges which among them represent all the well known fraternal orders. Public sentiment is highly favorable to manufacturing industry, and an official called the "Industrial Solicitor" exercises substantially all the powers of a local Board of Trade in the matter of endeavoring to locate manufacturing plants in the city, in which work, backed by the city authorities, property owners, and other business interests of the community, he had been very successful. Any kind of an industry employing men will be welcomed, as the industries employing women already here have absorbed nearly all the labor of that kind. The Industrial Solicitor's estimate of the number now available for employment is 200 men, and 50 women. Land for factory building purposes can be obtained at very low prices, and in the case of an approved industry with a substantial amount of capital invested, further funds may be furnished by local subscriptions. A few small buildings suitable for factory purposes can be rented or purchased.
Considering the advantages of location on a navigable river leading to the ocean, superior transportation facilities by rail and water, low price of land, abundance of labor, proximity to other large centers of population, New
