NOTE BY THE COMPILER.

THIS Catalogue is sent forth by the compiler with many misgivings. While aware of its imperfections, however, he believes that he has used due diligence to make it as correct as his materials would allow. He has had to contend with imperfect records, the indifference of correspondents, and the treacherous memo- ries of his informants.

To such as have given him assistance in this thankless task, he desires to render his acknowledgments, and hopes that all persons who can, will furnish authentic information for an early and more perfect second edition.

JONATHAN PEARSON.

UNION COLLEGE, May 10, 1854,

INFORMATION.

THE only titles used in this Catalogue, are the ordinary academic and profes- sional degrees ;- a different course may be adopted in a future edition, if sufficient facts be received, in the meantime, to warrant it.

All blanks in the different columns, save the last, show want of information.

In the last column, if the year be inserted, it shows when the individual died ; if only a star, (*) simply the fact of his death.

The three arrangements of names under each year are as follows :

1st. The names of all the graduates of that year.

2d. The names of students in that class who pursued a partial or "University" course.

3d. The names of those who received honorary degrees.
