IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO MOVE
FIND OUT FIRST if telephone service can be pro- vided without delay at the new location of your real- dence or place of business. To avoid possible disappoint- ment, please call our Business Office -- Dial 811.
Many orders for moving existing service or for in- stalling new service can be filled only after extended delay because equipment shortages exist, Needed ma- terials have been hard to get and demands for telephone service have been the heaviest ever experienced.
The manufacture and mokallation of new telephone equipment is a complex job requiring considerable time to make it a working part of the System but every effort is being made to provide facilities as quickly as possible for all who want telephone service.
Orders which cannot be filled promptly are carefully listed in accordance with their dates of receipt, and ap- plicants are notified just as soon as their turn is reached. Each application is filled in its proper turn.

Directory Services
Every customer in Brooklyn is given a directory of Brooklyn telephones.
Directories are also available without charge for Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island and suburban points. To give these books to all Brooklyn: customers would be an inconvenience to most of you. In cases where they are needed, they are furnished on request.
This directory is and remains the property of the Telephone Company. Please return your old book when a new one is delivered. You will thereby avoid the possibility of calling wrong numbers through reference to an out-of-date directory. If your directory becomes lost or badly worn; the Business Office will replace #t.
Directory Listings
If you have a telephone you are entitled to' one free listing. "If you have more than one telephone line, you are entitled to one free listing for each line up to three. Listings in addition to your free listings may be obtained at a small monthly charge.
When you get a new directory, please check your -own listings, and if incorrect, notify the Business Office at once so that we may adjust our records for the next issue and protect your service in the meantime ..
Many telephone users take additional listings so that their telephone numbers will be listed in other places in our directories where people may look for them They may be secured by calling the Business Office -Dial 811.
The Classified Directory
Every Brooklyn customer is also given a separatelyt. bound classified directory printed on yellow pages. It' lists all Brooklyn business and professional telephone numbers under suitable headings.
No matter what commodity or service you want, you can jgenerally find. in the classified directories someone who can supply it.
Additional listings and advertisements in the classi- fied directory may be arranged for by calling the Business Office-Dial 811.
Calls to Overseas Points
Information on the availability of telephone service to overseas points and the rates applicable thereto may be obtained from the Long Distance Operator, (Dia) 211).
Some typical wieck-day rates for a three-minute call are: To Argentina, Australia, Denmark, Italy, the United Kingdom and the U.S.S.R., $12 00; to Colom- bia, Hawaii and venezuela, $9.00; to Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands, $750; and to Bermuda, $6.00 Reduced Fates apply on calls to many countries during certain night hours and on Sunday.
Displaying Telephone Numbers
It will be a convenience to those who call you if you will print your telephone number, on advertising material and[stationery just as- you do your street address.
While we cannot guarantee any number will be permanent, we change no numbers unless the needs of the telephone sloten make it essential to do so. When a number is changed, we give as much advance notice as possible.
Personal Number Lists
The quickest, easiest way to get telephone numbers is to have your own personal list. We have two attractive in- dexed booklets for just this purpose - designed after we had asked thousands of tele- phone users what kind they would like. For pocket or handbag 2%" x 4"_ with space for 235 names, addresses, tele- phone numbers and memoranda. For home or office -- 45/8" x 71/8" with space for 400 names, addresses and telephone numbers. There is no charge for either, booklet. Just call our Business Office -Dial 811.
Information Service
"Information" -is for those numbers not in your personal numbers list or that you can't find in the directory.
Here are some special steps we are taking to help you get the numbers you want without calling "Information."
More Directories at busy public telephones and private switchboard extensions. If ad- ditional directories are needed, let us know Memo Paper at busier public telephones, for jotting down telephone numbers.
Better Directory Arrangements at public telephones.
Improved Listing Arrangements In all tele- phone directories.
Free. Announcement. Cards for Subscribers to notify friends or customers when they have new or changed numbers.
Attractive Booklets for keeping personal number lists. (See above.)

The Telephone Company maintains a Customer Service Bureau whose sole job is helping business people to make more effective use of their telephone service. . Its services are available to you without charge. All you need do is call the Business Office +Dial 811-and ask that a representative call on you.
Identification of Employees
