REMARKS .- The School is happily noted for the large number of adults in the Bible Classes; the names of some have perhaps been omitted, though the President of the Y. P. A., who has kindly prepared this Catalogue, has taken great care to make it complete.
Formula
For Welcoming new Members.
-: 0: -
[ For those baptized in infancy. ]
Dearly beloved, grace be to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Through parental connection with the Christian Church you were baptized in infancy, according to the Scripture warrant that the promise is unto us and our children. Humbly trusting that you have been chosen of God to salvation you have expressed your wish to enjoy all the privileges of Christian Communion. We rejoice in it and thankfully recognize the seal of God thus set to his promise that he will be the God of his people and of their seed after them.
[ For those not baptized. ]
Dearly beloved, in remembrance of the Saviour's words, "Whosoever shall confess me before men him will I confess also before my Father . which is in Heaven,"-you do here and now, repenting of your sins and trusting that they are pardoned through Christ, make a solemn profes- sion of your Faith in Him. 1
CONFESSION OF FAITH.
1. We believe in the Triune God : "The Father, God above us ; the Son, God for us ; the Holy Ghost, God within us;" and that "these three are one;" that God is Allwise, perfectly just and perfectly holy ; and that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the only inspired Revelation of His will to man.
2. We believe that man, created in God's own image, "fell into sin;" that in consequence, all the impenitent arc "dead in trespasses and sing,
.
19
and are dependent for salvation solely upon the unmerited mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ."
3. We believe in Christ as our only Saviour from sin and everlasting death; that He, by His sufferings and death, made full atonement for sin ; that by the influences of the Holy Spirit men are convinced of sin and persnaded from it: that all who repent and believe, are justified by faith. adopted into God's family, and finally sanctified and received into heaven, there to dwell forever.
4. We believe in the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper: the former a symbol of the "washing of regeneration," the latter a memorial of Christ's sufferings and death; and together, the only Sacra- ments of Christ's Church on earth.
DO YOU NOW ADOPT THIS AS YOUR CONFESSION OF FAITH ?
[ Baptism is here administered. ]
Beloved. you have now witnessed a good confession. Your heart's acceptance of Jesus Christ is here confirmed in the presence of his people. This act is solemn in its nature, precious in its privileges and impressive in its obligations. But you know whom you have believed. Be per- suaded that he is able to keep that which you have committed to him.
[ For those received by Certificate.]
Dearly beloved, having heretofore made public profession of your faith and having been cordially received by letter to our Session, you do now recognize your obligations to this particular Church desiring in all things to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith you are called.
[After each form the Church will rise and give welcome in these words. ]
We, the members of this Church, do heartily welcome you to our communion and to a share with us in the labors and rewards, the trials and triumphis of Christian discipleship. We pray that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and highth, and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Historical Sketch.
:0:
.
This Church now enters its sixty-fourth year. It is not possible to sketch the real history of any church for such a period. As well could one picture the influences of our noble River with its ceaseless waters. He might indeed tell the names and locations of the mills upon its banks. he possibly might tell the number of wheels turned by its beneficent current and the number of boats floated upon its crystal surface; but he could not estimate in words the value of the ripened harvest- that yearly have crowned the fertile hills rising on both sides its channel nor the glory of the meadows that have felt the refreshment of its overflowing waters. So we may tell of the three buildings that have been occupied by this church as places of worship, we may give the names of its four pastors and make mention of the thirteen other ministers who have worked here for shorter times, we may number the seven hundred and sixty-tiro members that from the beginning to the present have been enrolled upon the church records; but no words can express the influence of its unceasing current of Christian life in the household and in the community, or the glorious power of the times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
