PREFACE.
UR first edition of The Little Falls Directory, is herewith presented with the consciousness that no effort has been spared to issue the most com- plete arrangement of the information herein contained. The work con- tains a General Directory also a Business and Street Directory together with other valuable information. Much pains has been taken to issue a complete Miscellaneous Department, while in this department some societies may be omitted, the fault in this direction lies with such societies and associations in not being prompt to send the desired information. Our canvassers met with the usual obstacle in the work of gathering the names, but experience, skill and liberal outlay have resulted in the best compilation Little Falls has ever been favored with. . In the fullness of its list of names and the simplicity of its classifications, this volume will commend itself as in advance of its predecessors. To whoever may find an error, the compilers can only say: That "to err, is human," "to forgive, sublime." Other publications containing part of the information given herein and at four times the cost of our book have met with a cordial welcome from the public and we feel assured that a higher degree of appreciation will be accorded in by a careful examination of the contents of this publication. It is our intention to make a directory for Little Falls. each year and we hope your business men will see the necessity of this, but to keep on we must be better fav- ored with their advertising patronage generally. It is no easy task to make a direc- tory, especially one at fifty cents and make it pay.' In the way of books we have been liberally patronized, while we do not wish to complain we hope the business men of Little Falls, will, during the year be satisfied how good 'an advertising medium a directory is that reaches not only all business houses, but all classes We return thanks to the public generally who have so kindly aided our canvassers - in collecting the names and other information for the work, and more especially do we thank those who have so generously favored us with their advertisements, because without this patronage no full and complete directory can be made ex- cept at a great pecuniary loss to the publisher.
