Overview of Monroe County Records

Monroe County was created in 1821 from Genesee and Ontario counties.
The New York State Department of Health has copies of birth, marriage, and death records starting in 1880. Individual town or city clerks also have copies of birth, marriage, and death records.
The Monroe County Clerk has marriage records starting in 1908, court records starting in 1860, divorce records, land records starting in 1821, and naturalization records starting in 1822.
