Montgomery County was created in 1772 from Albany County.
The New York State Department of Health has copies of birth, marriage, and death records starting in 1880. Individual town or city clerks also have copies of birth, marriage, and death records.
The Montgomery County Clerk has marriage records starting in 1908, civil court records starting in 1795, divorce records, land records starting in 1772, state census records, naturalization records starting in 1850, and land surveys and maps.
The Montgomery County Surrogate Court has probate records starting in 1787.
