His will, dated Apr. 19, 1707, calls him " weavour," of Southold, " very sick and weak"; to Phebe Corwin, under 18, who lived with him, feather bed, etc. ; to beloved wife Deliverance Whitchair all the estate; wife and friend Josha Wells executors. JOSEPH REEVE, d. 1736, p. 4. Will dated July 19, 1722, and proved June 3, 1736; blacksmith, in " perfect health "; wife Deliverance, sons Joseph, Benja- min, David, Hezekiah, Solomon and William, daus. Abigail, Mary and Hannah ; sons Benjamin and William executors. (N. Y. Wills, 12. 514. )
JOHN GOOLDSMITH, d. 1724, p. 5. Will dated Feb. 25, and proved Mar. 18, 1724-5; yeoman, very sick; wife Mary, sons John, Zaccheus, Jeremiah and Daniel, and daus., one of whom is Mary Wells. (N. Y. Wills, 10, 32.)
SOLMON, p. 5. In Lib, 1 of N. Y. Wills are recorded the papers connected with the administration of the estate of an early William Solmon, who had married Katherine, the widow of Matthew Sunderland, a seaman, and the owner of lands at Hashamacock. By her he had four children, and by another wife, Sarah, two others, and died so that his widow Sarah could become the wife of John Conkling before March, 1666, when Conkling was appointed to administer Solmon's estate, and sets forth that he had maintained these "divers young children." The children who were the heirs of the Hashamacock lands were John, Mary (the oldest daughter), Sarah, Rebecca, Elizabeth and Hannah.
JOHN CONKELYNE, d. 1694, D. 8. No will appears on record. A later John, yeoman of Southold, made his will Jan. 15, 1705-6, and it was presented Oct. 14 following, and allowed Jan. 2, 1706-7. He gave an interest in his lands at Hashamacock to his wife Sarah, and names oldest son Jolin, second son Henry, third Thomas and fourth Joseph, and daus. Sarah, Rachel, Mary and Elizabeth.
BARNABAS HORTON, d. 1680, p. 10. He made his will May 3, 1680, " findeing sundry Distemps Dayly Growing upon me," naming sons (1) Joseph, (2) Ben- jamin, (3) Caleb, (4) Joshua, (5) Jonathan, eldest dan. Hannah Trevale, Joseph, the son of dau. Sarah Conckling, third dau. Mary Budd, youngest dan. Mercy Youngs, and wife Mary who shall be sole executrix. (N. Y. Wills, 2, 417.)
RICHARD STEER, d. 1721, p. 14. He made his will Mar. 29, 1721. being "aged and infirm "; to Joshua Wheeler of New London "a penal obligation." to Elizabeth, wife of Nathaniel Beebe, Elizabeth, wife of Jacob Alley of New London, Mary, dau. of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Beebe, Anna wife of John Tonge, Betty or Elizabeth, dau. of Jolin and Anna Tonge,-these six legatees being " children and grandchildren of my former wife Elizabeth,"-dau. in law Bythia, wife of Isaac Hubbard, and wife Bithye Steer. COL. JOHN YOUNGS, d. 1698, p. 21. ITis will of Feb. 20, 1696-7, gave all his lands to his son Thomas Youngs, and to each of his two dans. Deborah Long- worth and Martha Gardiner one third of his movable estate. A small legacy was left to his grandson Daniel Youngs. (N. Y. Wills, 5, 243.)

SOUTHOLD .- OLD ORIENT,
On the very narrow neck of land between Orient Harbor and the Sound, just west of the village of Orient, is the old burying-ground of Oyster Pond. It is approached through private grounds, and is hardly a stone's throw from the beach. Here were buried the first settlers of this part of the township. Most of the stones are of imported slate. All of the inscriptions found in 1882 are here printed .* .
