Rev. Lewis Clark died at Glenville, O., March 5, 1876, of typhoid pneumonia. He was a member of the M. E. Con- ference, Northampton, Mass. He was a descendant of the worshipful Lieutenant William Clark, settler, who was also the ancestor of Mrs. CLARK (MARY ELIZABETH HOLLISTER) through Jonathan Graves, Sr., and Sarah Clark, daughter of Lieutenant William. Rev. LEWIS and Mrs. CLARK, moved to Northern Ohio in 1838, where he became a member of the Erie Confer- ence of the M. E. church.

Fidelia Elvira Field, wife of LEVERETT JOSEPH IVES, is thus spoken of in the " History of Summit Co., Ohio :" " Prom- inent in the early history of Akron, was the wife of LEVERETT JOSEPH IVES - FIDELIA ELVIRA IVES. She traces her lineage through a number of original settlers of New England, among whom may be mentioned Samuel Wright, of Springfield, Mass., Elder John Strong, of Northampton, Mass., (1) Lieut. John IIollister and (1) Richard Treat, both of Wethersfield, Conn., and Zachariah Field, of Northampton, Mass., grandson of John Field, of England, the astronomer, who in 1556 wrote the first astronomical work in England, ever published, based on the tables of the Copernican systemn. In consequence of which he has become known to history as the 'Proto-Copernican, of England.' Like her ancestors, Fidelia E. Ives, possesses energy, activity, and strength of character. Through all the years of her residence in Akron her gentleness of spirit, and large benevolence secured her many friends."
LEVERETT JOSEPH IVES removed about 1833 from Western New York to Hamilton; C. W. In the spring of 1837, owing to the Canada Rebellion, being unwilling to swear allegiance to the British Crown, he removed to Cleveland, O., and in the

following autumn went to Akron, thirty miles distant, where he settled as a druggist, remaining there for twenty-three years. In 1860 he removed to Chicago. After remaining in the west a number of years, he returned east, and died September 20, 1876, at his residence in East Orange, N. J., æ. 70 years. The " History of Summit County " says of him : "He was honest and upright in his dealings with men. A good citizen, a kindly friend and neighbor, his manners were pleasing and full of hospitality." In politics he was a firm Republican, sympathizing largely with the cause of freedom to the slaves. When " Old John Brown the Martyr" went to Kansas, he pre- sented him with the rifle he carried with him.
Leverett Joseph Ives is a descendant of' William Ives, one of the original free planters of New Haven, und according to Savage came over in the ship " Truelove" from London, in 1635, to Boston, at the age of 28. In 1639 he is recorded ax one of the original signers of the " Fundamental agreement of Quinnipiack." He died at New Haven in 1648, and soon after his widow married William Bassett. Joseph Ives, son of Willliam, married Mary Gale and had a son, Ensign and Deacon Samuel, who married Ruth Atwater ; they had a son Capt. Jonathan, who married Thankful Cooper; they had a son Jeremiah, who married Hannah Bassett (the great grand- daughter of William Bassett, the second husband of the widow of William Ives); they had a son Joseph, who married Sarah Bishop; they had a son Leverett Joseph, who married Fidelia Elvira Field.

BOMEISLER, was of Jewish birth, the son of Nathan Loebl Bomeisler, of Munich, Bavaria, and - Heller, his wife. He was a highly educated and accomplished gentleman. In 1815 he was a resident of Paris, where he was decorated by King Louis XVIII with the "Order of the Lily."
. Col. Daniel MeKaraher, the father of Elizabeth McKaraher, was a Scotch Irish Presbyterian and a patriot from the North of Island. He fled to Philadelphia in consequence of his patriotic sentiments. He was the friend and co-laborer of Robert Emmett.

NOTE - William, Jr., the father of WILLIAM FREDERICK KIDDER, was the son of William Kidder, of Boston (a well- known chemist) and Charlotte A., daughter of Samuel Adams, of Boston, and Thankful Chamberlain. Samuel Adams was familiarly known as " Merchant Adams" to distinguish him from his cousin Samuel Adams, the patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence. Both marched side by side at the battle of Bunker Hill.
Rebecca Ann Ackerman was a daughter of Catharine J., daughter of Col. John Gilbert Bogart (a lineal descendant of [11] Tennis Guysbert Bogart through [52] Guysbert Bogart and Jannetje Van Arsdale) who died while on the way to join his regiment in Boston Harbor, during the war of 1812.

Capt. ELIZUR HOLYOKE died in Springfield, Mass., February 6, 1676. In the old graveyard at Springfield, some time since removed to make way for the Boston & Albany Railroad, a tall white monument stood bearing the following inscription :
"Here lyeth the body of Mari, the wife of Elizur Holyoke who died October, 26, 1657.
She that lies here was while she stood A very glory of womanhood ; Even here was sown most precious dust Which surely shall rise with the just."
Deacon Edward Stebbins of Hartford, Conn., made his will August 1668, in which he mentions his wife Frances, son-in- law John Chester, grandson Edward Cadwell, son-in-law John Wilson "dear sister HOLYOKE (second wife of [4] ELIZUR HOLYOKE, of Springfield, Mass.), son-in-law Gayler and brother- in-law ELIZUR HOLYOKE,
Frances, widow of Deacon Edward Stebbins, made her will November 12, 1673, in which she mentions son-in-law John Chester, now living in or near London, Old England, and his two sons John and Samson, also son-in-law Thomas Cadwell- and his wife.

Peter Lanman died April 14, 1804, at Norwich, Conn., and was buried there. He came to Norwich from Plymouth about 1750. He was a prominent member of the Presbyterian church, with which he united in 1786, and which he had helped to organize. He was actively engaged in shipping and mercantile business. The names of PETER LANMAN, father and son, were conspicuous in mercantile life for nearly seventy years. He was a staunch patriot, of strong religious character, a profound thinker and a courtly gentleman.
SARAH SPAULDING Corr, widow of PETER LANMAN, died February 2, 1829. Will admitted to probate, February 11, 1829. She was a " mother in Israel," whose descendants arise and call her blessed. .

Marian Griswold Chandler, wife of JAMES LANMAN, died Sep- tember 7, 1817, æ. 43 years. She was a lovely example of social, domestic and christian virtues. He married, 2d, a wealthy widow, Mrs. MARY JUDITH BENJAMIN, mother of Park Benjamin, the poet, and of Mrs. J. L. Motley, wife of the historian. She was burned to death February 12, 1848, æ. 70 years ; no ch.
James Lanman died August 7, 1841. He graduated at Yale College in 1788. Was Clerk of the Convention in 1818 to form the Connecticut State Constitution ; served two years in the lower house of the Legislature, and one year as State Senator. He was for five years Attorney for the State for

New London county ; United States Senator from 1819 to 1825 ; three years Judge of the Superior Court and of the Court of Errors of Connecticut, and three years Mayor of Norwich (the fifth to hold the office). He died at Norwich and was buried there. His eloquence and success at the bar caused him to hold a very prominent place in his native town. He was imposing in figure and had a noble face, whose every feature spoke in- telligence.
