The old " Frontier Band " of Potsdam, N. Y., offered its services and was accepted by the Government May 28th, 1861, but was mustered out of service Aug. Sth, 1862, by general order of the War Department disbanding regimental bands, when several of its members joined brigade bands or enlisted in the ranks of the Sixteenth.
