Discipline.


STANDING RULE.


[Adopted by the Church, June 5, 1879.]


Before any complaint against a member of this Church can be re- ived or entertained, such complaint must be reduced to writing, and gned by the person making the same. Such complaint must contain fbrief statement of the charges, and the names of the witnesses by hom the same are expected to be proven. If entertained, a copy of ich complaint must be forwarded to the accused, and full time and portunity given for defence.


In cases of misdemeanor proven, the penalty may be either Private proof, Public Admonition, Suspension, or Excommunication. In ses of excommunication, notice thereof must be read from the pulpit the next succeeding Sabbath.


The Church may withdraw watch-care and fellowship from mem- rs, or drop their names from its roll, if from long absence, or any ber cause, such course may seem just. Such withdrawal of watch- re and fellowship, or dropping of names, must be upon the recom- endation of the Church Committee. Whenever it is possible, due tice shall be given such members, and opportunity afforded them to plain or justify their conduct,


Any act of discipline, to be valid, must receive a two-thirds vote at y regular meeting of the Church, and the member must, if possible, informed of such action, either by the Clerk, or a Committee ap- inted for the purpose.


It is expected that members removing from this place will ask for tters of dismission and recommendation within one year, unless for od reasons it may not be advisable. Members who have neglected mpliance with this rule for more than two years, after due notice ven them, their names may be dropped in the manner stated above. hey may be restored, by a vote at any regular Church meeting. upon tisfactory explanations.


All applications for letters of dismission and recommendation shall over one meeting, unless by special vote to the contrary.


Any regular meeting of the Church may be resolved into a business eeting.


Meetings of the Church Committee shall be opened by prayer, and e minutes and all other entries by the Church Clerk read. amended id approved.


In all matters not otherwise provided for, the course adopted shall that commonly followed by Congregational Churches.
