[*Thomas Wickes was at Wethersfield in 1635 and at Stam- ford in 1641. He came to Huntington with Edmond Wood and others. His homestead was at the "town spot" and probably included the open space at the east end of the present village of Huntington, as his descendant, Thomas, subsequent- ly made a deed of it to surrounding owners on certain condi- tions. He died in 1671 and left children Thomas, John, Rebecca, Martha, Elizabeth, Mary and Sarah. The name is spelled in the records many ways but generally Wicks .- C. R. S.]
