*Eben Cady was struck by a cannon ball in the neck and instantly killed. He was only seventeen years and six months of age. Before going into his last battle he wrote in his Testament. "This blessed book belongs to Eben J. Cady, of Co. C, One Hundred and Eighth Regiment, N. Y. S. Volunteers." This precious memento was secured by his cousim and saved for his parents. Like many other soldiers he had had a premonition that he should not survive this battle.
