fore been necessary to estimate upon somne of the figures, but they are probably given closely. Companies B and D were detached upon provost duty at division headquarters during the latter part of the regiment's service. The first-named company thus escaped loss at Fredericksburg, while in the case of Company D, detached some months earlier, the rolls do not show that any casualties in battle occurred during its term of service.
