THE MERCANTILE AGENCY.

THE OLDEST,

THE LARGEST,

THE MOST COMPLETE.

The difference in price for the use of the various Agencies is rarely more than Twenty- five per cent. Now, to save this paltry percentage, spread over an entire year, some are disposed to content themselves with a second-rate Agency. A moment's reflection ought to convince those who so decide that the saving thus made is most unwise, for the following reason : presuming that an Agency, to be worth anything, must have at least 5,000 sub- seribers, by accepting a rate lower, say even by $25, relinquishes an income of $125,000, which, if received and judiciously spent, would make a very great difference in the quality of its information. The subscriber, by saving his $25 a year, thus deprives himself of the advantage of an expenditure of $125,000 per year. But a really first-class Agency, that has, say 20,000 subscribers, by its insistence on the payment of even this additional $25 as a remunerative rate, thereby adds to its revenue $500,000. If the subscriber can, by the payment of $25, secure all the advantages of a judicious expenditure of a half a million dollars, by persons in whom he has confidence, directed by long years of experience and with machinery in perfect working order, is there, in the whole course of his business, an expenditure that will pay him a better return than this $25 additional ?

Monumental Work of a Superior Quality, from all the best grades of LIGHT, DARK, or RED GRANITES, and from the American or Foreign Marble.

Parties contemplating improvements to their cemetery plots in any section of the country, upon consulting with us, we will furnish designs, plans, and proper estimates of the cost, etc. We execute work, no matter how elaborate or plain, of Granite, Marble, or other material.
