WOOSTER CITY
Is located on the gently rising slopes of the Killbuck and Apple- creek. It was laid out in the year 1808. It was incorporated in the year 1817, and became a city of the second class September 9th, 1868. It is noted for the healthfulness of its location, and its large trade with the surrounding country. It is divided into five wards, and it has five ward schools. Its High School building is located in a beautiful park, and is the admiration of visitors.
The University of Wooster is located on an eminence in the north- ern part of the city, overlooking the city and miles of fertile plains and valleys.
Its streets are lighted with arc electric lights. It has a local telephone exchange. The long distance telephoneconnects it with the principal cities. Two great trunk railroads-the Pennsyl- vania and B. & O. systems, afford the best of traveling and ship- ping facilities. It has completed miles of sewers, which with their large outlets and rapid currents, make an admirable system.
The city owns its water works, which are unexcelled for purity of water, and the abundant supply that may be furnished, when the extension, now in progress is completed. The city has all its principal streets paved with paving brick.
It has a magnificient City Hall and Opera House. Its mammoth factories are hives of industry for its busy population. Its popu- lation is 10,000, not counting the suburbs.
The Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station is located one mile southeast of the Public Square. It comprises a beautiful tract of 500 acres of land, with its costly buildings and large green houses. They are an attraction for visitors.
