Descriptive === Uhrichsville=Dennison

Dennison and Uhrichsville, the twin cities of Tuscarawas county, are sit- uated on the main line of the Penn- sylvania Railroad, west of Pittsburg, in a fertile valley, the natural resour- ces of which are an important factor to the flourishing condition of its peo- ple.

One of the chief products of the valley is corn, which is grown in great abundance and is shipped to all im- portant markets of this part of the country, and is a source of substan- tial revenue to the thrifty inhabitants of this section.

Wheat, rye, barley, fruit and vege- tables of a highly cultivated type also add greatly to the local financial sta- bility of the citizens, farmers and merchants in general.

Situated as it is on one of the most important railway arteries of the coun- try, nothing is lacking in the way of transportation and easy access to all commercial centers.

Two banks are located in each city, the last annual statement of each showing a healthy growth over the previous year, making plainly an era of prosperity second to no other city of equal size in the state.

The health of the people is insured by reason of the elevated position of the two cities, and is further benefit- ed by a supply of pure fresh water, which is obtained from the Big Still Water Creek and filtered by a modern water plant.

The education of the younger ele-

ment and the future citizens is pro- vided for by a well regulated school system, there being three schools to each town. A public library contain- ing 3,000 volumes is connected with the Uhrichsville high school and is free to all.

Well established churches of all de- nominations provide for the spiritual welfare and add an elevating influence among the people.

Both cities are well lighted with natural gas and electricity, the former of which is used to a great extent for fuel, and may be had at extremely low rates.

The neighboring country abounds in coal which furnishes employment to hundreds of men whose labor is well paid for and which enables the work- ing class to live comfortably the year round.

Here also is located one of the largest sewer pipe manufacturing companies in the world and shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Hotel service in both cities is first class, and the visiting and traveling public's wants in this direction are catered to after the most up-to-date fashion.

The rapid growth of the two cities in the last few years but tends to show that the people are anxious to expand in the right direction, and therefore invite investigation of outside public and capital, knowing full well that new comers will be rewarded finan- cially and otherwise by locating where so many opportunities are afforded as may be found here.
