PREFACE

I N presenting this issue of the Cleveland Blue Book and Social Directory, the author and publisher is con- ·vinced that the work will prove more complete and useful to its subscribers than any previous issue.

The features that have heretofore made the book valu- able have been retained and several additions have been made.

In addition to the names and addresses of prominent families, the names of clubs to which each man of the family belongs, the Alma Mater of each college graduate, and the names of the junior members of the family be- tween twelve and twenty years of age, the leading clubs of Cleveland have been added in this issue because of the great demand made upon the publisher for this informa- tion. All this information is given in connection with the alphabetical list of names, street list, and the names of prominent people in 34 towns near Cleveland, giving the volume a new value from the standpoint of ready reference.

The author and publisher tenders her thanks to those who have made the present work possible by their sub- scriptions and assistance, and expresses the hope that the work will fully meet all requirements.

HELEN DE KAY TOWNSEND.

The Wardrobe is made Air-Tight, Dust-Proof and Moth-Proof by having the door compress a rubber cushion, which seals the wardrobe perfectly air-tight.

The Wardrobe is a fine piece of furniture. It is made of six panels, beautifully finished in mahogany or oak. It is white enamel lined and furnished complete with hangers.

EXPLANATORY

I N the following Alphabetical List, the names in smaller type immediately below the names of a man and wife or a widow denotes the woman's maiden name. The let- ters and figures following names denote the clubs, college degrees and year of graduation of the husband. The same principle is fol- lowed with regard to other names in the fam- ily. The prefix Junior signifies children be -. tween the ages of twelve and eighteen for girls and fourteen and twenty for boys.

Many requests have been made of the author to continue a list of former residents of Cleveland. This has been done with the view that it will prove of inestimable value in send- ing out invitations.
