THE CLEVELAND BLUE BOOK
PREFACE
I N presenting this issue of the Cleveland Blue Book and Social Directory, the author and publisher is convinced that the work will prove more complete and useful to its : subscribers than any previous issue.
All the features that have heretofore made the book val- uable have been retained and several additions have been made.
This edition contains the names and addresses of prom- inent families, the names of clubs to which each man of the family "belongs, the Alma Mater of each college grad- tate, and the names of the junior members of the family between twelve and twenty years of age, and the leading clubs of Cleveland. All this information is given in con- nection with the alphabetical list of names, and street list, giving the volume a high value from the standpoint of ready reference.
The author and publisher tenders her thanks to those who have made the present work possible by their subscriptions and assistance, and expresses the hope that the. work will fully meet all requirements.
HELEN DE KAY TOWNSEND.

Investing Your Surplus
F REQUENTLY people find it quite a problem to invest their money in a satisfactory way. By "satisfactory" we mean an investment which is safe, which will yield a good rate of interest, and will involve no inconvenience. It is not always easy to find an investment which contains all these elements.
We are always pleased to consult with anyone who has · this problem to solve, and we aim to give the best advice we can, regardless of whether the inquirer decides to buy from us or not. We are in a position to offer a well diversified list of investment securities at all times. These include the highest grade municipal, public utility and industrial bonds, paying up to 712%.
Under our partial payment plan, securities can be bought and paid for in installments, suiting the purchaser's conven- ience. In the meantime the money paid draws interest at the full rate.
Call or write for particulars.

I N the following Alphabetical List, the names in italic type immediately below the names of a man and wife or a widow de- note the woman's maiden name. The let- ters and figures following names denote the clubs, college degrees and year of graduation of the husband. The same principle is fol- lowed with regard to other names in the family. The prefix Junior signifies children between the ages of twelve and eighteen for girls and fourteen and twenty for boys.
Many requests have been made of the author to continue a list of former residents of Cleveland. This has been done with the view that it will prove of inestimable value in sending out invitations.
