YOUR STORE
W E CALL this "your store" for the reason that you are at liberty to come and go as you please, whether for sight- seeing, rest, recreation or shopping. It is not only a mer- cantile establishment to make money, but to offer you every convenience in the way of the little luxuries that will come to you at 110 cost whatever. Whenever it has been possible for us to install new fixtures that would help you in your shopping and make more satisfactory to you every purchase, we have done so, and in our merchandise we have tried to give you always a little better value for your money than you expected. As a result, ofttimes our adver- tisements may seem to you a little far-fetched, but we want to impress upon you that each and every item advertised by us is exactly as represented.
OUR AIM
It is our aim, from clerk to proprietor, to give you the same fair and just treatment that we would like to receive if we were buying goods from you.
We want to make this a congenial and cheerful store for you; a place where you will always receive courteous attention and every consideration, whether you come to shop, or drop in to look or to meet a friend.
In a word, we want you to feel that we are sincere in our desire to be of genuine service to you. No trouble at all to show goods and when you are in a hurry, say so, and our clerks will step lively.
We want you to feel "At Home" here.

RURAL DIRECTORY
DO YOU KNOW THAT
An Abstract does not make your title good?
It is simply a copy of the records affecting the title ? We show the records as we find them, Good or Bad?
It is then up to you or your Attorney to read the Abstract and determine the condition of the title ?
Many people think if there are no Uncanceled Mortgages on their property the title is good ?
There are many other ways in which a title may be affected adversely, such as Uncanceled Leases and Mechanic's Liens, Back Taxes, Judgments, Deeds and Wills that are improperly drawn, Imperfect Descriptions in deeds, or Deeds that have never been recorded, Estates that have not been administered in Probate Court, Suits in Court in which all parties interested have not been made defendants or served with proper notice?
An Abstract made by us will show you the exact condition of the title to your real estate ?
We have had 25 years' experience with the records of Huron County, and if it is "On record" we can find it?
It is a sound business proposition to insist on an Abstract when purchasing real estate.

A Popular Watering Place.
HURON COUNTY SOME FACTS AND FIGURES
H URON COUNTY, with a total of 2,928 farms in an area of 494 square miles, is distinctly a farm county. More than 92 per cent. of the entire area of the county is in its farms, and more than 80 per cent. is under cultivation. The farms are, as a rule, of more than average size, about 6 per cent. being under ten acres. They are almost, without exception, profitable and correspondingly valuable. The farmers as a class are the most prosperous folks in the county. In view of the number of farms that is in itself a statement of the wealth of this section.
The farm population of Huron County is almost exclusively native- born white.
It is interesting to note the number of farms in the county operated by their owners. Of this class there are 2,159, or 73 per cent. One thou- sand four hundred and sixty-nine, or 68 per cent. of them, are reported free of mortgage debt. This is an exceptionally large percentage. Of the
5
HURON COUNTY
balance, the remarkably low mortgage indebtedness of only 29 per cent. of the entire valuation is carried. Even in the absence of other statistical figures, these mortgage statements alone would indicate exceptional pros- perity among Huron County farmers.
The largest single crop, and the one produced most generally throughout the entire county, is corn, of which 1,450,821 bushels were produced in 1910, a notably bad crop year, but the latest for which authoritative figures are available. Following closely on this for quantity is oats, with a total of 1,308,891 bushels; wheat comes next with 624,316 bushels, and potatoes fourth with 216,296 bushels. The combined total of value of these four crops was in excess of three and one-half million dollars.
Everywhere is an atmosphere of hard work. Everyone takes work seriously and as a matter of course. There is no false pride about it, and no failure to realize its importance and its necessity. Rich farmer's wives, and sons and daughters, take pride in their fine butter, their eggs, their vegetables, their chickens and their stock. The relations between the people of the farms and the people of the county seat are most cordial. The farmers deposit their savings in the local banks, and deal in the local stores.
This directory is published in the belief that it will serve to acquaint the residents of one end of the county with those of the other. We believe it to be accurate. We realize, however, that even in the most carefully compiled and printed books certain errors are bound to appear, and we apologize in advance for any such that may be found by our subscribers.
