ENOCH E. RONEY, Connty Auditor, was horn in Clark Town- ship, Brown County, Ohio, on Oct. 3, 1845. His father died when he was only two years of age; his mather being very poor, be was bound out to strangers when hnt three years old. Mr. Roney never became dixconraged because his lot wes a hinrd one, hut was always ready to do his duty, to vindicate the right and expose tlic wrong. When the war broke out in 1861 Mr. Roney wes but fifteen years of age, but he had such a love for his country and respect for his flag, that lie volunteered on August 13, 1861, in company K, 27th regiment O. V. I., and during the war was wounded three times-at New Madrid, Mo., March 13, 1862; Corinth, Miss., October 4, 1862, and at Atlanta, Ga., July 22, 1864. One has only to read the history of that regiment to learn how those brave boys defended their country and fiag. At the close of the wur Mr. Roney came hoare and finished his education; his health being such that he had to follow some light profession that his bealtb would permit of. Mr. Roney was admitted to the har as un attorney-at-law for the different courts of Ohio on the 24th day of September, 1870, and to the United States courts on the 20th day of October, 1875. He was elected auditor of Brown County, Ohio, October 13, 1875.
JOHN LAFABRE was born in Franklin township, Brown County, Ohio, September 9, 1830. In 1850 he went to Wittenberg Col- lege, Springfield, Ohio, where he remained one yenr. Graduated at Farmers' College neer Cincinnati, in 1853, then studied law with Gunkle and Strong at Dayton, Ohio. He graduated at the Cincinnati Law School in 1855, since which time he has spent the greater portion of his time at farming and the practice of law in Russellville, Brown County, Ohio. In 1875 lie wns elected clerk of the Court of Common Plens in Brown County.
JOHN T. BRADY wns bora in Jackson township, Brown County, Obio, September 17, 1835. He is a practical farmer, and has constantly given his uttention to that branch of industry until Oet. 1874, except four years spent in the service and defence of tho flag of his country.
Mr. Brady was elected sheriff of Brown County in Oet. 1874, which office he now holds. Although a solid republican, yet be was elected by a huadsome majority wbile the county is strongly democratic.
GEORGE W. DRAKE was hora in Pleasant township, Brown County, Ohio, on the 8th of' April, 1826, and has lived in tha county ever since, and spent the principal part of his life in farm- ing until the time of his election to the office of county treasurer, which occurred on the second Tuesday of October, A. D. 1873. Hewas afterwards renominated by his party, and then unanimously nominated by the opposite party, and re-elected to tha sume office on the second Tuesday of Octohier, 1875.
CHARLES A. LINN, Jr., prosecuting attorney of Brown County, Ohio, was born at Otterberg, in Rlienish Bavaria, Germany, on the 31st day of August, 1848. Cume to the United States with his parents in 1851, since which time he has been living in Ripley und Cincinnati, Ohio. Obtained a thorough commercial and general education hefore tuking up the study of the law in 1866. In 1867-8 graduated at the Cincinnati Law School, and was ad- nitted to practice at Georgetown, Brown County, Ohio, in the spring of 1869. Studied luw two years with Chambers Buird and Wm. D. Young at Ripley, Ohio, and one year with Judge Jumes Sloun, at Cincinnati, Ohio. , Practised law with General Thomas Powell and Judge T. O'Connor one year at Cincinnati, Ohio.
W. W. ELLSBERRY, M.D., was born in Brown County, Ohio, December 18th, 1832. At the age of eighteen he commenced the study of medicine with his father, Dr. E. M. Ellsberry. He attended his first course of lectures at " Starling Medical Col- lege," und graduated afterwards at the Cincinnati College of Medicine. For eleven years he devoted his time exclusively to tlte practice of medicine, when he was elected county auditor, to which office be aspired on necount of ill health, He served as auditor six years and eight months, during which time a portion of his titae has been devoted to the study and practice of his pro- fession. Ile was one of the originators of thia " Brown County Academy of Medicine," of which he has been secretary since its origin, and one of its active members. He is also u member of the Ohio, and American Medical Associations.
The doctor has always been rudicully democratic.
