organ Township. Located on Cincinnati- Brookville Road at intersection of Wynn Road, keana, Butler County, Ohio. Situated in the NE 1/4 of Sec 21 in T 3 N. of R. I. E. eserved by the first proprietor William Jenkins for his last resting place and that of his mily. The homestead was purchased from the U. S. Government on 26 June 1809 and as the home of William Jenkins and his son William. He founded the town of Okeana med from the daughter of the Miami Chief, Kiatta. The cemetery is located on the ll overlooking the farm and village .

illiam Jenkins I, was a native of Wales, served during the last three years of the Rev- ution for which he received a land grant from Virginia. This he sold in September 1807 Chillicothe, and came to Cincinnati. Here he bought 80 acres, but wishing to locate th friends moved on to Paddy's Run and located on the old homestead. He lived from 95 to 1807 in Monongalia County, Virginia .

The Hickory Chapel Church was a place of worship in 1820. The Rev. Rees Lloyd, was pastor of the Congregational Church of Shandon, wanted the church house built of particular site; he bought the land, erected a pealed hickory log house, and began hi work. It is from these significant logs that the Church took its name.


The site of the old building and the adjacent graveyard is in the north-east corner of the north-east quarter of Sec 27 in T 3N. , R. 1 E. in Butler County, Ohio. The old church edifice has long since been torn down. Many of the stones in the cemetery a: marked with un-engraved stones, some are not marked at all. It has been abandoned 1855 is the last burial which is marked with a stone .
