McPeck was wounded in this battle and fell into the hands of the rebels, who robbed him of his sword and belt, watch, silk handkerchief, and boots on his feet. He was wounded in the leg. He was rescued by Union forces the next day. He was discharged on account of this wound on the 8th of December follow- ing. He had been with the regiment in every march and battle up to the time he was wounded. Was never sick nor excused from duty. It can truly be said of him that he did his duty, which is the most honorable mention that can be made of a soldier.
