P. C. KING'S NEW PATENT HARROW
This barrow is the latest thing out, and will create a revolution among harrow . men. I have built a good many different harrows, and experimented with them, and worked on un- til I brought out this harrow. I have had this
53
LADD'S SYCAMORE DIRECTORY.
harrow in the field in competition with the best harrows now made, as well as rollers. A roller is, in a manner, a dead thing. It will only pulverize a few ciods on the highest places, and will neither cultivate the soil nor destroy weeds, while my harrow will pulver- ize more clods than a roller, and at the same time it will .cultivate the ground to the depth of four or five inches. It will destroy weeds, and will pack and level the ground so that there will be no holes nor low places in the field. The beams slant up and are wide, and. each beam carries two series of teeth. The teeth are steel, diamond-shaped, and incline backward, so that they are always clean, and consequently the barrow will cut four or five inches deep. There is, a seat on it, so that a man who is crippled, or too old to walk, can ride, or a boy that is too young to stand much walking but is able to bandle a team, can sit on this harrow and do a good job. There are runners fastened to the cross pieces on top of the harrow, and by removing the seat (which can be done by taking out one pin) and turn- ing the harrow over, it is then the same. as be- ing on a sled and can be easily moved from field to field. :
